No, I'm using WinME, downloaded the 1.2b version and installed it prior to the 7th. Still shows letters at 33 cent. Strange.

I found that if I just downloaded and installed 1.2b or 1.2c it still wouldn't print $.34 postage, and I had to download and install a separate update.

Well, I just followed the directions in the email E-Stamp sent out and downloaded the update from the direct link in the email. I never thought to try the Update Software button from within the program, nor did E-Stamp mention that it was necessary. Of course now their servers are down so it does not work.

Oh well, I have about $12 left of the free $50 and intend to use it up. I will just print 33 cent envelopes and print the 1 cent additional postage on the back.

If your e-stamp still works at all I wouldn't even try to update it. Just use addtional postage. If the update doesn't work you may never get the freeking thing working again! Also, I noticed on mine that my address CD expires in 30 days. I read on their site or one of their mails (can't remember which) that they will no longer be updating these either. You can check it by putting in the address CD opening the program and clicking on Help/About.

Check your vault expiration date. Mine just happens to expire on 3/5/1, convienent isn't it. I bet e-stamp put a bomb in the update to prevent anyone from printing postage after 3/5. When I first installed the software months ago, I had a problem where the eventlog upload process would hang and never complete. Estamp CS had me edit a registry value changing the date to several years in the future. Well, I just went into the registry and guess what, it looks like all registry fields are now gone. What a POS company. They got what they deserved. Looks like I'll be printing $0.55 stamps until 3/5.

Hi All,

Has anyone had the problem where their Address Matching CD has expired before it's supposed to? I was running fine a couple of days ago with my current CD (September 2000, 6 month CD). Then early this morning, I go to print a stamp, and during the address verification routine it says that my CD is possibly expired and to check the date on the front. It said to insert a current CD, and restart the program. I've tried just about everything I can think of. I tried one of my other CD-ROM drives, I tried cleaning the CD (Windows Explorer can see the contents just fine), I also downloaded the 1.2b from idrive and upgraded to build 21 (to get the 34 cent stamp printing ability).

I've called Tech Support on this but they seem pretty unwilling to help. The had me delete a couple of files and run a "repair" reinstallation, all to no avail.

What's weird is that when I go to Help--->About, in the place where it lists information about the Address Matching CD, under "Version Date" it says "No ZIP+4 CD-ROM" and under "Number of Days Until Expiration" it says "Not Found". So something is leading me to believe that the program just isn't able to interface correctly with the CD.

The problem is that I am out of ideas. I've got $40.43 on there that, yes, is promotional, but it angers me because a tech I e-mailed back in December said that I would still be able to use the SW until the end of February. Looks like that isn't the case. But it would seem that unless I can somehow trick this program into finding the address CD, I'm SOL. I can't even print "Additional Postage" (to print a $40 stamp which I can get a refund on) without the CD in the drive.

Does anyone have a similar problem? Is your software still working fine? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

I found that my vault is set to expire 1/21/01 :(
But today, an Estamp "engineer" said that it will still work even after that date

The post office has form 3533 for requesting refunds on postal services, and on back, where it asks for postage meter information, write the serial number of the Estamp electronic vault and your postage license number. Then print a stamp to clear out your vault (I left $3.50 in the vault to cover its return shipping), and take it and the form to the post office. They gave me a cash refund of over $30 in less than a minute.

larrymoencurly--

Did the post office deduct 10% off the amount of the postage you printed?

I'm looking at the form you were talking about (everyone has a copy in pdf format in their E-Stamp folder) and on the back (in the post office use only secion) it says "Deduct 10% for Unused and Spoiled Meter Stamps".

Not a huge deal if the take off $4.00, but I've got some packages to mail in the next few weeks so I may print regular postage for those instead. But if you were able to get around this 10% penalty then maybe I'll just take the quick refund.

I was able to get mine working, BTW. What I did was copy my E-stamp directory onto the network and then copied it to another workstation (which was running Win98). Then I "reinstalled" the 1.2b installation file overtop, which kept all my settings. It's reading my vault, meter certificate, and my address matching CD! I just tried printing a $.01 stamp and it worked!

The key is that esmain.ini file, so you should be able to reinstall the SW as long as you save that file.

The post office did deduct 10%. I probably wouldn't have applied for the refund so soon if my vault wasn't about to expire, but I'd rather get a sure 90% refund locally than take my chances with a 100% refund that risks losing the spoiled stamp in the mail and waiting 8 weeks for a reply from a company that's on shakey financial grounds.

luv2chill, I had the same problem with the disk expiring the other day and the fix is simple, just close the program and back up the date on your system a few weeks. Update the mailing date one the line in E-Stamp and you're all set. We've used this trick with another add. verification disk we bought for bulk mail that had expired too, and it worked fine for over a year!
