Complete BS. If that was intentional, so was the Contreras one today.
You say Varitek didn't have time to think, and yet he had time to exchange words with ARod, walk him down first, and get in his face.
All of which happened in the course of a whopping 3-4 seconds. He didn't plan on fighitng arod either, it took less than a second for him to punch Arod after the "come on" talk.
Keep telling yourself that. It may not guarantee victory but it is certainly an advantage.
Finally, the Yankees abusing the MLB with higher salaries is a JOKE.
It is, from the MLB's point of view. How they can allow such degradation of their sport is beyond me. The yankees are one of the reasons baseball is on a decline compared to football and basketball.
First off they have a slew of home grown players: Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Bernie Williams, Mariano Rivera.
How many players are on a baseball team? How many prospects have the yankees dumped in the past few years?
Again, some of your comments are pointless and are unproven with facts. Give me numbers and truths, not opinions w/o backing. I never defended Contreras's HBP and I will stick by my assessment that Arroyo was AIMING for ARod.
The Varitek incident happened for atleast a minute, from the HBP, to the escorting, to the getting in the face. He didn't have time to take off his mask, but he had time to walk down the basepath?
And you keep saying that money is a reason for them winning. Prove it. I give you hard facts, you give me nothing. Money is certainly an advantage and I can not believe that your telling me that Boston is not in the SAME position. Yea they spend less, but they still spend more than almost all teams in the MLB, don't use the money argument.
Baseball is on a decline?!?!? wow, you are surely misinformed. One of the leading decling sports is NBA basketball. You DO realize that there is a larger following for the much better College ball games right? You are telling me that after the strike of 94'(year?), baseball has not been the most improved sport?
Yankees dump prospects to get players. Are you telling me that Boston doesn't trade prospects? How about this Terry Adams trade? Come, all teams do it. I'm just saying that 50 million is allocated to its own home grown players, so please understand we don't go out and spend on everyone else. See in NY we are respectful to our players and try to pay them what they want, not chase them out of the city (i.e. Nomar)
