Hey alm4rr,

You go to GMU? Heh. I live just outside DC.
If I hadn't broken my CD burner, I would've d/led the CDs for you and mailed them to you.

hah yea Im here at ol Mason - working on my masters

I picked a better ftp site this time, and the fact that I am downloading the correct version this time
makes it quicker - should be done by morning.

btw - I hate how there are no Office Max's around here!

At least there are plenty of Best Buys. That's better than Office Max IMO.
Heh. I thought starting my Master's at Mason. It seems to be the easiest and cheapest way to do it around here.

True, but I find the BB in Fair Lakes often is out of stock of sales items by the time they go on sale... I know they only sell so many of their units during sales then put the stuff back up after it.... that or their manager is HORRIBLE at managing supply....

As for Mason,
Yea, its DEFINITELY the cheapest in dollar amount around. It's actually not costing me anything b/c I work as a GRA which covers my tuition and I work for the housing company which gives me free on-campus housing - def. the way to do it =)
heh and then i get my books from the library

Yea, Im a cheap bastard!
My program is ranked nationally, and the professors are great. Great location, too. What were you thinking of doing your studies in?
The new Mason memorial on the Mall is pretty nice btw. Tucked over by the Jefferson Memorial.

You should try the Microcenter in Fairfax. It's off the Nutley St. exit. They've got a lot of computer stuff like books, parts, and even a lot of Linux distros. I picked up a few Loki games over there for cheap!

I have to admit, that BB is a little bit ghetto. I went down to Norfolk last week and the BB down there was awesome. Of course, the Circuit City and CompUSA aren't that great around here either. :(

I'm thinking of Software Engineering or whatever Lockheed will pay for. Haha. Tuition reimbursement is the bomb. I know that w/ SE at GMU, if you meet certain requirements you don't have to take the GRE. That would be one less hassle out of my hair!

No, there are 2 seperate source CDs. I actually used the 3rd CD on my install, but I did a custom install.

I used all three CD's in my install as well.

When I downloaded them on Monday, I found a fast mirror site and got around 430 K/s. Started downloading around 9:30, had it installed on a box by about 2:00, and even went to a few classes in-between. :D

if you look at the mirrors you should see the source cd's listed. the 3rd cd is required for some packages, but not for a basic installation

don't hold your breath.

as for scrool mice they are usually setup correctly during install but if not it's usually just
"ZAxisMapping 4 5"
in the mouse section of your XF86config

All installed...nice! Is KDE 3 a system hog? It has locked up on me twice now and I just installed it today.
