1-1 after the first :D

Anahiem looks pretty good except for 1 or 2 bad give aways.

I don't think people give the Ducks much credit......... they have a nice young core but they also have some playoff veterans like Oates, Sykora & Ozalinsh (sp?).

Cheers,
Aquaman

The Wings look best when they are at a dead run, not just skating, but passing too. They aren't doing that right now. Seems like these days someone's got to put a scare in them first. Give them a chance.

Giguere is playing absolutely amazing tonight

I'm not sure but I think Cujo is still out there. Although I haven't seen him lately.

Kariya clips defending champs in OT

Canadian Press
4/10/2003

DETROIT (CP) - Paul Kariya scored at 3:18 of the third overtime and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 63 saves to give the Anaheim Mighty Ducks a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings in the first game of their Eastern Conference quarter-final Thursday night.

Kariya picked up a loose puck shortly after a faceoff in the Detroit end and snapped a low shot past Curtis Joseph's blocker side.

But Giguere was the star of the game as Detroit outshot Anaheim 64-44. The Red Wings had 36 shots in overtime of the longest game in Anaheim's history.

Brendan Shanahan gave Detroit a 1-0 lead on a power play 4:15 into the game.

But Adam Oates beat Curtis Joseph at 15:33 of the first to tie the game and the two teams then battled for the lead - mostly in the Anaheim end during the extra periods.

Anaheim outshot Detroit 31-28 through regulation, but the Red Wings dominated the first OT, outshooting the Ducks 20-4. Detroit also had a 14-8 advantage in the second overtime.

So the Wings are starting out as they did last year. As long as they finish the same as they did last year I'm happy. :)

If the Wings can put 6+ past Roy in last year's playoffs against Colorado, they can handle Giguere. Beginner's luck. ;)

True. True. I just like giving you Wings fans a hard time. ;) I'm sure both the Wings and Avs will advance to the next round. Then it will be the clash of the titans, assuming the Stars win thier series ofcourse.

I hope you're right, I can't wait to watch Detroit put another 6+ past Roy. ;) :p (I just loved it when they benched Roy and all the Detroit fans started cheering, "WE WANT ROY!", or when the Avs got that one goal and the music guy at the Joe started playing "One Is The Lonliest Number".)

The game last night was good, but the Ducks were playing out of their heads. They had a lot of good stuff happen to them and I think that they used up too much of their luck too early. Not that the Wings can slack off, but I think that the experience will win in the end. Wings dropped their first two games last year, so I'm not too worried.
