Idiocy. There will be a generation of people who grow up completely and totally unable to deal with life. And then the pharmaceutical industry will be happy to move in and prescribe lots of psychoactive medications to help them out...

And you'll find most of your R games a M here.

Censorship is positively rife in Australia, it's amazing that you people allow it to happen.

- It is illegal to sell video porn anywhere in Australia except the Northern Territories and ACT
- Where video porn is legal, there are restrictions on fetish porn and various other types
- Any 18+ games are auto-banned, Wikipedia lists 31 banned games in Australia
- Many publishers release dumbed down versions of video games because of Australian censorship laws - you can't pick up hookers in the Aus version of GTAIII, for example (curiously, you can still murder them)
- Australian officials took the same stupid knee-jerk reaction to Hot Coffee as the US
- Mobile phone porn is illegal
Most importantly:
- Very soon Australia will be censoring the internet. That's right, the government will go head with a pre-election promise (you voted these people in? Fucking Australians) to filter every single internet connection from Australian ISPs. There will be two filters in place, one with a blacklist of objectionable websites and another filter to make the internet "kid safe". The kid safe filter is opt-in, the blacklist is MANDATORY.

So what are they going to censor, you ask? Answer: anything classified RC, R18+* or X18+. Yes, you read that right. They will be censoring not just kiddie porn, but ANY pornography AND "simulated sex". That's right, sex scenes will be filtered from the internet.

It astounds me that you fucking commies would actually vote these liberal fucks in after they have announced this policy.

Makes my blood boil just reading about this. I don't live in Australia, but they are talking about similar in the US.

wasn't this already reported by some places in the US a long time ago or is this the same story just reposted?

We didn't have any choice about the Internet Cencsorship. The previous Liberal goverment introduced the bill, and the new Labor goverment are going along with it. Not matter who we voted for we got it.

It's not gonna happen anyway. It will just be too hard to implement. Even if it did get implemented it wouldn't last very long. The ACLU would sue the goverment.
