We were not happy when THQ decided to push back the release of the PC version of Red Faction: Guerrilla beyond the console version's June ship date. This week, however, the game's official community site finally revealed the final ship date for the PC port, along with system specs and the first PC screenshots.
Folks in Europe will be getting the game on September 11 while we here in the US will have the pleasure of getting the game on September 15. There's still no word on if THQ will offer us a free demo of the PC port before its release but at least we will get our chance to do some Van Damage on the game's new GeoMod engine. Check out the hardware requirements after the jump:

Minimum:

¦OS: Windows XP / Vista
¦CPU: 2.0 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2)
¦Memory: 1 GB RAM / 15 GB of Hard Drive space
¦Video Card: 128 MB 3D Video Card w/Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 7600/ATI Radeon X1300)
Recommended:

¦OS: Windows Vista® for DirectX 10
¦CPU: 3.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2)
¦Memory: 2 GB RAM / 15 GB of Hard Drive space
¦Video Card: 256 MB 3D Video Card w/Shader Model 3.0 Support (Nvidia GeForce 8800/ATI Radeon HD3850)
Note: If you're going to play Multiplayer on Games For Windows Live, we highly encourage each individual to be running a "Recommended" spec computer or higher.

Interesting the minimum spec is a dual-core CPU. Maybe that means the physics really are cool enough for a high end system.
Also, Yahtzee did a review on it last night. I wont take it too seriously because he said Red Faction 1 sucks.

If only it could be a FPS, I would definitely buy it, I really liked the original Red Faction on the PS2, it had a good taste of a mixture between Half-Life and Total Recall, it always gave me the feeling I was playing a movie-based game written by Paul Verhoeven. Then the sequel came, and it was very bad, very... very bad. I had a lot of hope for Guerrilla when I first heard about it, and that was until I saw the first trailer, in third person view. I asked around if there was an option for first-person view, nope, doesn't seem like it.

Maybe, just maybe I will pick it up in two or three years when it gets on D2D or Steam at a very cheap price, otherwise, no thanks.

High min and recommended specs. *looks at my mere AMD X2 3.0ghz dual core processor*

Hopefully this will be really good. Not a huge fan of the GFWL idea though.

Red Faction 1 PC was an average SP game with fantastically fun MP content (bearing in mind I was a teenager back then).

EDIT: Argh, its not FPS?

Its an open world FPS, probably comes under a "sandbox" type game. Think GTA IV on mars, for single player anyways, multiplayer is a lot more like an typical FPS, except for modes like siege etc where you have to defend/destroy buildings its a lot of fun on the xbox.

Recommended 3.2GHZ dual core? Does that seem high to anyone else? I just checked newegg, there is only 1 Core2Duo processor that meets that spec, a E8600.

Considering the really weak recommended video card, I'm going with my previous assumption that they focused more on physics in this game than graphics. Looking at the videos of the console versions it seems you get lots of nice debris whenever you make an explosion.

This game is pretty awesome on the PS3, if they don't skimp on the PC version, I may have to pick it up a 2nd time.

I suspect this game will follow the same type of patches for GTA IV - eventually they'll learn to give the power to the PC gamer to disable some of the unnecessary fluff so the game can run properly on [most] modern PC's.

Ever since HALO came out, console devs have been killing themselves trying to copy it.

Am sad the third Red Faction game has gone this route, but such is life.

If it doesn't scale to 4 threads, 99% of pc users won't have the processing power to run it at recommended settings. Considering that the cpu requirements are off the wall high, the recommended settings better be the real "run it at max settings at 19x12 or 16x10" than what is commonly referred to as recommended, the "run at mid-high settings at 10x7 or 12x10".

Lets face it, recommended usually means mid settings, 1280x1024 and 30fps average. To get it to 50fps high setting average, it's going to take something like 4ghz.

If it doesn't run with the best Intel dual core chips at max physics settings correctly, it' just going to be another GTAIV. Fun, but absolutely worthless.

3.2ghz seems AWFUL high for recommended requirements. I'm guessing this might not be a very good port....

Red Faction 1 PC Multiplayer was awesome. I can only hope for the same here, since they skipped multiplayer for the 2nd one on the pc.

I've noticed these kind of off-balance requirements on a few console ports (not quite as off balance as this, though). I'm guessing that having the CPU take care of most of the calculations makes it easier to port the game over.

Has no one downloaded the free demo on XBox 360? The game looks absolutely stunning from a physics perspecitive. It's unreal, everything breaks in a realistic manner. There's sheer, utter destruction on tap in this game. I will buy it for PC if I can find it for $35 on launch.

The story sucks from what I've heard, but it looks like just pure fun from a 'break everything you see' perspective. Looks fun.

Rather, the consoles have more powerful CPUs than GPUs when compared to modern gaming PCs, so ports of games built to exploit that wind up being more demanding on the CPU. It's not like they are offloading graphics work to the CPU, though it would surely help if they could modify their code to support GPU accelerated physics.

Anyway, I played the demo of this on the 360 and wasn't impressed at all.

I lost my disc a couple years back, but I used to love rail servers and all the user made maps were usually good. It played really well on 56K modem back then :)

i loved RF1, enjoyed blasting holes in walls to hide in. multiplayer was a bit cheesy especially with the 1 overpowered gun but it was fun as hell. i might buy! wonder if my q6600 2.4 is good enough.

btw, this game has vehicular combat too?

It clearly says "Core 2 Duo" right there next to it.

It's a very physics-heavy game.

Based on the consoles, everything but the rocks and ground.
