That would be a very scary place 🙁 and I don't think we're too far away from it.

My wife and I went to one of the plays that the local university does every summer in a tent. The seats are small and all pushed together, but any normal-sized person (I'm 6'1" 174 lbs, 23 BMI) could easily fit within the confines of the seat. My wife and I each had an obese person next to us whose butt fat rolled over the edge of their seat and took up about 15% of ours.

Nothing like sitting through a 2-hour play with fat nasty butt to rub up against! At least it wasn't something like a 15-hour flight. I always make sure to put down my armrests on a plane, at the movies, etc. to prevent "sharing" my seat with someone else. I certainly don't like paying the same fee as someone else and yet they get more real estate than I.

what's scary is that an adult who is 5"10 is not obese until he is over 209 pounds.

i'm 5"10 and i feel pudgy at 170.

If you feel pudgy at 5'10 170 then you must have absolutely no muscle mass. Either that or a body image problem.

Probably more to do with the way our living environment has changed the past few decades. How readily available and affordable some really bad food are. Longer, maybe more stressful work days leading to fewer rest time for walking/etc, or preparing meals. Just to name a few.

I am 180 lbs and 6'2. I get told all the time "you are so skinny", and I seriously wonder what is going on. 6 ft or so and 180 lbs used to be the "target weight" for men (in that height range), now I am too skinny because of it? WTF?😕

I have a BMI of about 23 pounds and am trying very hard to gain muscle weight. Either it isn't happening or it's happening very slow.

Yep. I'm 5'7" and I feel like my so called "ideal weight" of 140 lbs is actually a little bit on the heavy side. I usually like to stay at around 132-134.

However, people call me a twig all the time... It's kind of like they're trying to be demeaning, actually.

Yeah, I'm 5'11" 215 and trying for ~190-195. I was at 165 4 years ago and was too skinny IMO.

I agree.

I predict a cival war between Reeses and Hershey in year 2230. Hershey will send a robot back in time to assinate ET who ate the pieces.

Some may think that's crazy....and you know what happens to those people in the movies.

Reeses is owned by Hersheys, so I doubt it.

I would agree, im 5"9" and 198 lbs and I know for a fact that I am a fatty, so the BMI scale seems to be a bit off.

If this was based on the FDA standards, I really don't have much faith in it.

I'm 5'6", 150lbs. I was told that i was borderline obese. Maybe i am from a pure numbers stand point, but I really really have no wieght to loss. I have a 10% body fat, i can't really lose anymore without becoming unhealthy.
