Record breaking year... for obesity

There appears to be no end to the prevalence of obese people... The CDC did use BMI but to be honest I think a BMI of above 30 is quite accurate (as far as obesity is concerned) except for a FEW exceptions.

what's scary is that an adult who is 5"10 is not obese until he is over 209 pounds.

i'm 5"10 and i feel pudgy at 170.

those that ar eobese generally dont care that they are

if people want to be fat, let them its not anyone elses place to tell people how to live

i noticed that fact this weekend while people watching at a ballgame. it was hard to spot a thin person in the crowd. most people are fat and they just don't seem to care.

I just checked, and I have a BMI of about 25.5; 31" waist be damned, woo.

Good to see LA and GA are both still holding strong.

I've lost 41 pounds in the last 6 months. 6 feet 3 inches at 204 pounds now and still dropping!!! 😀

I did my part to help lower it! 😉

It is when they are in the same insurance plans as normal people ... and this will be even more relevant once taxpayers are footing the bill under universal healthcare. And that's just one of the many examples of why obesity is an issue to normal people as well.

Cost of Obesity

They cost this country billions every year.

Thanks. I shot ball for 10 minutes during break today, walked (with a run for the last minute) on the treadmill for 15 minutes and walked with the wife for 1 hour and 10 minutes. I do this every day (varies depending on length of walk, etc). I've also cut out ALL candy with the exception of fiber bars or granola bars and also whole grain fruit bars. I eat about half of what I used to!!!

I want to lose 50 to 55 pounds total! :Q

I predict a cival war between Reeses and Hershey in year 2230. Hershey will send a robot back in time to assinate ET who ate the pieces.

Some may think that's crazy....and you know what happens to those people in the movies.

Let's face if, people try to save money on everything, and the cheapest food also happens to be mostly unhealthy.

The financial issue a bullshit excuse. It's the simple difference in calories in and calories out. Anyone can calculate his BMR and modify calories in accordingly ... whether or not he can afford organic lettuce is irrelevant.

It seems like you have a good routine there. How do you control the eating half? Do you just immediately split a portion (I'm mainly wondering what you do when you eat out).

As long as insurance companies can charge them extra on their health and life insurance premiums and as long as airlines can force them to buy two seats instead of just one I'm fine with them being fat. Well, maybe if we can force them to use deodorant too.

ZV <-- Has had more than one too many cross-country flights next to a person who was oozing over and under the armrest on the plane and smelled like they hadn't bathed in weeks.

I am not really surprised at all and must agree with Mosh. I am a BIG "people-watcher" no matter where I go.

I am rather shocked to see so many obease (not just a bit "plump") people everywhere. Not only that, but am saddened and disgusted to see so many young children dangerously overweight as well.

I never blatently stare but I then notice THEM staring at me... This just occured last night at school. Question then becomes: Is it even more rare to see someone who is not overweight?

We have never been people to eat out anyway, so not much of an issue. I would rather cook a low fat nice home meal than to eat out anyway! 😀

i agree with both points you have made, for massivily obese people that is understandable
smoker pay higher health premiums, no reason really obease people shouldent, HOWEVER it would be a slopper slope determining where that cut off was, and weather of not people with genetic issues that make them fat would fall into that catagorie

and the non use of deodorant isnt just an obese person issue, i know plenty of skinny people who dont use it either. and yes its really really gross
