he means the boxster spyder.

and uh the cayman and the boxster are basically the same car, i've driven them both on the track and thats really the only place i could tell the difference in stiffness

except when they ran them head to head when the cayman came out it outclassed it exceptionally well

I suppose tire size and choice could have alot to do with it though

and goddamn does it look better

and some guys also had a great idea, some of the new jags are supposed to be VERY nice

Aston&

do they come with PDK/DSG?

No man.

GT3 is strictly manual.

Unless his dad is a driving nut he'll find the GT3 far too stiff. It's a track car for the hardcore. It has a roll cage in the back from the factory...

Just to throw another one in the mix:

2011 Audi S5 w/Premium pkg and Tiptronic

Too much like a barge 😛, looks pretty.

aston martin v8 vantage

Too slow...but looks gorgeous. But I'm guessing they aren't going to care about speed as much as me 😛

Yeah I think they are too. I almost took back my GT3 recommendation because I saw the OP post manual only, but I'd have to make an exception for that car - it's not hard to learn manual! A quick look on CL brought up two GT3's located close to me that both had less than 10,000 miles and were in the $85-87k range.

While I wouldn't want to buy a car that costs that much right now, I've been on-again/off-again looking for a 996 Turbo in the $40k range for myself as a fun weekend car. Both of the owners/sellers I talked to in the last couple of months were selling theirs because their wives were pregnant and were forcing them to get larger cars. While I'm not in that position yet I may be in the next 3-4 years so it's deterred me from buying a Porsche...so far.

You only live once. How long do you intend to keep the car? 3-4yrs you can just sell it. It's also taken a huge hit so why not go for it? As long as you have enough £££ to keep you going for 6months without a job it's okay to spend. You won't lose much money selling a 996 Turbo after 3-4yrs imo.

Agreed, but IMHO any 997 variant would be ideal in this scenario.

With the OP's budget the Turbo is the way forward. The side intakes are the sexy and it looks much better overall 😀

for ~80k you can defiantly find a used 2007ish aston martin vantage w/ 10k miles... I know you said 2 years old, but the vantage is just pure sex on wheels...

997 would be hot... I personally dislike the boxster and cayman

the vette is a fun car too (i love my z06)... the grandsports are attractive, since they are available in convertible

How about a sportier sedan? Like the CTS-V, E63 and M5? Plenty of get up and go, with the plus of still being functional

I really think it comes down to personal taste... does he favor American? German? British? Italian? Swedish? Japanese?

i agree they are comparatively slow, but do we really want gramps going throttle lift oversteer with a 500hp rwd on public roads : )

Im, sure they'll be fine

Holy shit guys sorry I haven't checked this thread in a while.

Simma down nahhhhhhhhhh. This conversation is getting a little bit heated.

I think my dad is going to steer away from the Shaguars, and probably more towards the vehicles of the German variety.

As far as people said re: domestic vehicles, yeah, no domestics.

86 Delorean with twin blowers and AWD system, turns it into a track monster and is more reliable than a Civic plus gets 39 MPG CITY.
