1 chopped onion
1 chopped Bell Pepper
Ground Beef(approx 1 lbs )---can also substitute with chopped Italian Sausage
1 sliced carrot
1 796ml can Tomatoes(whole, crushed, or Diced...do not use Stewed)
1-2 tbsp(approx) Oregano
1-2 tbsp(approx) Italian Seasoning
1-2 tbsp(approx) Garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon(approx) Celery Seed
1 tbsp(approx) Crushed Red/Chilli Pepper (optional for Heat)
Salt/Pepper to taste
1 Boullion cube--I use Vegetable, but Beef/Chicken will work fine

Heat up a large pot to Medium temp, add approx 2-3 tbsp Oil. Add Onions and cook until they begin to clarify, add Crushed Pepper(if you choose to use) stirring around making sure the pepper gets covered in the hot oil and doesn't stick to the pot, add Bell Pepper, then add Meat. Cook, stirring often, until the Meat is no long pink. Add the herbs/spices, stirring so that they coat the Meat. Add the Tomatoes, Boullion, Carrot. You may need to add water, but usually that's unnecessary. Cook for approx 1 hour, may need to lower heat after awhile.

Newman's Own marinara sauce. The sauce is like crack and all the proceeds go to charity.

Hunts, Classico, or Prego, Bertolli, or Renaldi. I get whichever is on sale - when it's a spectacular sale. I've picked up Hunts for 3 for $2. And, recently, the Francesco Renaldi was on sale for 75 cents per jar. When it's that cheap, I buy a case or two.

If Ragu was on sale for 25 cents per jar, I'd pass. Yuck.

LaFamiglia is made by from a tradional Italian Recipe by an American Italian DelGrosso family or GiaRussa Cherry Tomato is Made in Italy to high Standards. Both are very authentico and delicioso. Those brands make their sauce from fresh pressed tomatos and never use tomato paste.

I use regular jar, but add lots of fresh veggies, which makes a big difference.
