Masterplan and Symphony X are two more I've been listening to a lot lately. Both I picked because I liked Allen & Lande's collaborations, and I put a big emphasis on vocals.

OP, considering your tastes in music (especially your emphasis on vocals and music style), I think my suggestions are worth a shot ;). I'm really picky about vocals in metal, and songs/bands need to have a certain musicality before I can listen to them.

Do you mind growl/scream vocals?
Yeah don't really like that.

And thanks all for the metal MATERIALS jokes. ;) Was waiting for those...
LoL, b/c A7X used to scream (and sometimes still do live). Some other bands you may like: Airbourne (AC/DC clone), Black Tide (heavy metal), Shadows Fall (some screaming), Atreyu (some screaming), Iron Maiden, Disturbed.

First off.. stop listening to Avenged Sevenfold NOW! They are f*cking trash. (except for first 2 cds, which were actually ok. Then they sold out completely)

Sounds like the stuff you're wanting to listen to would be more hard rock nowadays.. Metal is much crazier than it use to be ;)

Lets see... hmm..

Uhh....

sorry I don't know any thats straight up singing.. sounds like you just need to grab a bunch of the old classics, probably like that much more than anything newer.

Pss, inconel is where it's at.

Aluminum is basically conductive plastic as far as I'm concerned. The stuff cuts like butter, and pretty much is butter structurally speaking.

Stainless is OK and gives you a really nice finish, but it still isn't quite up there with the superalloys.

Iron is decently hard, but it rusts. Really you need to make it into steel.

Copper is expensive, dense, not a lot of fun to machine, and weak like aluminum. Unless you really need the conductivity (and aluminum is almost as good), it's not worth it.

Bronze/brass makes for pretty good bearings and is comparable to aluminum for machining, but denser. Still pretty weak as a metal.

First 2 CD's of A7X were "just ok"? ROFL they are classics. And A7X's diversity is unparalleled IMO - who can pull off 80's power ballads, piano love songs, country songs and yet still scream/growl with the best of them? Also, Syn is easily one of the best shredders right now.

Amen. I have a variable playlist of music I listen to while gaming. It usually includes Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica (older stuff), A Perfect Circle, Rage Against the Machine, ACDC, and other stuff.

I think I'll go listen to Waking the Fallen :D

Hahahahaha! Avenged Sevenfold's music being described as "classic"? Hahaha. What's next, someone will say the same thing about Disturbed?

Metal bands without growling:

Iron Maiden
Edguy
Nevermore
Dream Evil
Iced Earth
Blind Guardian
Slayer
Trivium (their latest CD The Crusade anyway)
Therion
Tourniquet
Dream Theater

Now, for one final suggestion. You said you don't like growling but I still highly recommend that you check out Opeth. Their songs are half heavy/growling, half clean/mellow. They are absolute geniuses and if any band can get you to like growling, it's Opeth. Try some of the mellower stuff first like Harvest, The Drapery Falls or Face of Melinda. Then move onto songs that are a little heavier and darker; Deliverence, Wreath, When. It might take a while but there is a good chance you'll enjoy them.
