I got my DS about a week ago. I bought Clubhouse Games (of course), Atari Classics, and metroid prime pinball.

I'm going to Gamestop today so i can trade or sell Atari Classics and Metroid. The only game on Atari Classics that is remotely fun, but tedious, is Lunar lander remix or whatever it's called. It's definitely not worth the $20.

As for Metroid pinball i just really don't care for it. Another thing, why the hell is there not any options to customize the flipper buttons? Who cares, i'm selling/trading it anyway.

So now i ask for recommendations on some good single player games. I work in a room by myself at night for 12hrs and it gets quite boring at times.
I'm not really into FF and pokemon type games.

Here's my current list to ponder:

New super mario brothers - I think I'm getting this
Mario & Luigi: Partners in time - Maybe
Hotel Dusk: Room 215 - Sounds interesting
Sonic Rush - Probably going to get this
Mario Kart DS - The reviews say the single player isnt that great but the 2 player is what makes the game so i think i'll hold off on this one for a bit.
Tetris DS - mmmmmmmaybe
Trauma Center: Weird and interesting but i don't think it would keep me interested for very long.
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land - Thinking hard about getting this too

Thats the list i'm currently thinking about. I just need a few good games to hold me over till i get a M3 Simply.

Let me know what you think about the games on the list and if you think there are others i should think about getting.

Try out Pokemon Pearl or Diamond, it's really good.

Currently playing it right now.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in time - This game is a MUST, believe it or not.
Hotel Dusk: Room 215 - Yeah it sounds interesting, I can't seem to get into it though.
Sonic Rush - Nice game, but a little "fast" for the DS.
Mario Kart DS - Another MUST game.
Tetris DS - It's interesting with the different features, but does get boring after a while.
Trauma Center: I can see why people would get into this, I just don't find it appealing.
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land - Been thinking of getting this as well but have too many games to play as it is.

I would also suggest Big Brain Academy and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

Second Vote for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Which currently has consumed my life.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Detective (or whichever the first one is). It's only $12 at Circuit City last time I checked (and when I bought it).

Don't get Mario & Luigi Partners in time if you don't like FF or Pokemon games. It is a turn based RPG.

With Mariokart DS, keep in mind that the 2 player version is pretty limited unless both people have the game. It's not really worth buying for that aspect alone IMO, unless you have a friend that already has it or is planning on getting it.

games i have:

New Super Mario Bros. - get it!
Mario Kart DS - get it!
Final Fantasy III - old school RPG in 3D - get it!
Elite Beat Agent - go get it if you like rhythm games
Tetris DS - love the nintendo theme, but it's Tetris (some cool modes though)
Yoshi's Island DS - if you liked Yoshi's Island SNES you'll love this, although i think this game is a bit hard later on to get 100 points in all stages
Metroid Pinball - got it for 10 bucks at the toys r us clearance bin. its a pinball game which im not too hot for, but the metroid theme and the price sold me. it comes with rumble pack as well (to be used on slot 2)
Big Brain Academy - 20 bucks, so why not. it was fun while it lasted

i played these as well:
Metroid Prime Hunters - i can never get into the whole 3D metroid thing on my gamecube, so it's not going to start here. but you may like it
Mario vs Donkey Kong 2 - this is a great game if you like games like Lemmings
Sonic Rush - better than all those Sonic games on next gen consoles since it's old school, but it's still not great like Sonic 2/3 or Sonic CD
Cooking Mama - i didnt hate it but didn't like it either.

can't wait for:
Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings

speaking of which, I am selling EBA, Tetris DS and Yoshi's Island DS on ebay, if they dont get sold today for the mere 20 dollars that I was asking for maybe you should get it from me, wink wink ;)

Another recommendation for New Super Mario Bros. Also, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is excellent. A lot like Symphony of the Night for PSX.

EDIT: Oh, and Brain Age is amusing too. Has a great Sudoku mode if you're into that.

Meteos is a fun tetris clone with a good use of the touch screen.

Phoenix Wright isn't bad either.

It being Japanese... I expected some hentai action just suddenly springing up. Not sure why? Look at some of Capcom's games for the PS2... the Lovely Girl series I believe it's called.

$20 each or $20 for all 3? If it's $20 for all 3, consider them sold and email me your paypal info. :p

Both Castlevanias, as already mentioned. Somehow, I gotta kick out of Puzzle Quest. It's like Bejeweled with RPG elements.

Someone mentioned FF3 earlier. What does that equate to if you were a kid in the US playing the FF games growing up? FF2? If so, I'm going to buy a DS. :)

BTW, I have played Advance Wars (one of the old ones) and if the one recommended in this thread is half as good I would recommend it to you OP.

They didn't release FF3(j) when you were a kid. FF2 (FF5j), and FF3 (FF6j) is already out for GBA

I have the following:

New Super Mario- I got this because of the reviews. It's much like the nostalgic NES version and I beat it within a week. I would recommend renitng this rather than buying it.

Tetris- I love tetris so this is no different. It's a great pick up and play game that offers many variations of the same old theme. The problem is that it's not vastly different.

Meteos- I like puzzle games but I never quite understood why this game had such great reviews. I don't have much patience with games I don't understand immediately so I haven't played this game much.

Puzzle Quest- It took me a few hours to get used to this but I now think it's great. At first I thought it was too simplistic but then realized strategy did exist and this is a deeper game than it first appeared. This is a must buy.

Metroid- To be honest I haven't touched this game much. I woudl recommend trying this game before you buy. If you hate the new use of the stylus as a pointer for a FPS then don't get it. The strongest positive for this game is its multiplayer capabilities.

Advance Wars DS- I loved the old version on the advance so I got this in a hurry. Same variation of the old game tho. If you liked the old version or never played the old version I strongly reccommend you get this. This is a strong buy because it focuses on the DS's pick up and go type playstyle.
