Maybe I should follow your poll results as well. I own all of those games except for Heavenly Sword (been meaning to pick this one up sometime), but I haven't played a single one of them. I've never been a fan of Quick Time Events, so that always detracted me from God of War, but the ranting about it made me pick them up anyway. Although, interestingly enough... I was playing Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3 the other night, and I found out that it has QTEs in it as well. Oddly enough, I had no problem at all with the PS3 controller and knowing where each button is, but I'm pretty awful at it with the 360 controller. 😕

I'm playing God of War 3 right now and it's not doing it for me like GOW 1 & 2. I loved the first one and the second was even better. While 3 has great graphics, something is missing for me. But I just finished Hades level and that boss fight was epic. Probably my favorite boss fight so far in the series.

OK. The game is picking up pace, and I retract what I said about 3 missing the magic of 1 & 2. Beat Hercules last night and that was badass. I read Kevin Sorbo from Hercules TV shows did the voice acting for the character. 😎

probably the hardest one too.

Actually, I didn't think it was that hard. Once you get a few items in particular, you can become waaaay overpowered. I only remember one or two of the bosses being difficult.

I always thought the hardest (that I played) were 1 and 3. freaking castlevania 1--those god damn medusa heads were impossible. 😀

You can become strong but not overpowered until late in the game. However, once you get the Crissaegrim, you are now essentially on God mode.

yeah, that in particular. I think I only got it on one of my playthroughs, without really knowing anything about it or trying to get it.

I ignored it for a bit b/c of low damage without paying attention to real dps. Then I finally equipped it.

But even without it, I found much of the game--especially the upside-down castle mostly a breeze once you get there. :\

Currently playing GOW III since it had the highest votes. When I am finished with it, I plan on playing the next highest voted game.
Oh man, I should have read this before I voted for GoW III! I wish I could change my vote to Bayonetta.

Or better yet, Demons Souls 😉

Demon's Souls is one of the best games I've ever played. I waited for a long time to buy it thinking it was too dark for my tastes, or worried about all the people that said it was hardcore difficult. I shouldn't have waited. It is epic and *so* satisfying. Try not to read too many spoilers, just explore the game and let it teach you.

I don't read spoilers really. I did however watch the review for the game on Gametrailers. Seems the majority agree with you, so I will be picking it up as well this week sometime.

What I dont understand though is, all the hate towards Castlevania Lords Of Shadow. It seems like it tries to be like GOW, but so ? Or Devil May Cry or whatever. Personally, what I have seen of the game, seems pretty good. And has a really long campaign. It seems it went in a "new" direction somewhat, but a lot of games does that nowadays. Not sure I understand what the big deal is why people "here" just dont prefer/like the game.

Seems to be positive comments almost everywhere for the game.

Or maybe, it isnt because people dont like the game, but based on the poll, they just prefer the God Of War series alot more ?

I grew up in the NES age, and have some nostalgia for Castlevania games, so I've thought of watching for Lords of Shadow on sale and picking it up. I have the demo on my PS3 and it's given me enough of a look to know it has fun gameplay.

Yep, as did I....started with Castlevania on the NES, then there was Simon's Quest *which was a pretty hard game* and then onto Dracula's Curse *my favorite*. Then I sold my black N64, and bought a smoked clear one and began with Castlevania and Legacy of Darkness. 🙂 Fun times indeed.

I skipped Lamant Of Innocense and Curse of Darkness on the PS2 though. Played them, but never finished them.

Oops, forgot Castlevania IV *SNES*. Good game.

My father was playing Lord of Shadows the last time I went home to visit. It seems pretty fun and I like not having my perspective forced on me like in GOW. Overall, I do like GOW III more from what I've seen so far. I'm only on Hades and he's kicking my ass.

LOL, yea Hades is fun. Beat him on my second try. Wasn't too bad once I figured him out.But in my opinion, the boss battles get better as they go. I for one like the battle with Hercules the most so far.

Going to start my second game on Tuesday. It seems it will be between Castlevania and Bayonetta.

Keep the votes coming 🙂

I had to give up on the game this weekend because I encountered fatal bug after I passed Hera's Garden and in The Caverns. After battling groups of Cyclops and then jumping to the platform in the back left, I'm supposed to use the Head of Helios to reveal the fake wall by the save point. But no matter how or where I flash the light, the fake wall won't go away and let me continue on. I'm on the latest patch of the game. So my God of War 3 ends there beaten by a bug/glitch in the game.

Hades fight was hard but epic. I barely beat him after many deaths.

Did you make sure you used the light on the entire area where the hidden spot is ? It did that to me a few times and I had to move the head around until the entire area was hit with it. Then it worked.

By the way, how is Ninja Gaiden Sigma ? And Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 ?

Sigma is worth playing, Sigma 2 is just kind of middling. Ninja Gaiden Black on original Xbox trumps them both handily. If you don't have an Xbox but really want to play, then go for Sigma.

I would say ditch Dante's Inferno and Heavenly Sword. Dante's Inferno is a poorly executed GoW clone and Heavenly Sword is absurdly short (like one sitting short).

Bayonetta is pretty amazing but it is INTENSE. You have to play it in 2-3 hour bursts or you will get burnt out. If you like it, look into Vanquish. If you like THAT then look into Shadows of the Damned.

From your games list I am almost certain that Demon's Souls is not your cup of tea. You have to be extremely patient when you play and come around to the fact that you will be dying. A lot. I still swear that world 5 is nothing more than a cruel joke made by the creators to allow gamers to understand the TRUE meaning of despair.

I don't think Heavenly Sword being as short as it is makes it not worth playing...esp. if you already have it.

It's fun, decent production, looks nice and all. the only thing that stopped me was a fucked-up rental disc. I hear all the complaints about it being way too short, but it was still a fun play (what I could play).

even in one sitting--that's still fine. (hell, I remember beating Super Metroid in 2.5 hrs, and it's one of the best games ever made, if you ask me....of course, those 2.5hrs come after knowing the fuck out of that game, heh)

Yes, ICO and Shadow Of The Colossus I am waiting for as well. Gonna be good....

Like I said earlier in the thread, I have finished Heavenly Sword before a few years back when I had a PS3 before I sold the stuff. Yes it was short, but it was good as well. 🙂

Picked it up again, because I sold my last copy, and thought I would like to play it again, and I found it for a few bucks from a friend so I snatched it up. Not sure why I put it in the poll really, since I have finished it before.

I am also awaiting several of the PS2 HD Collections for the PS3 coming this year.

Devil May Cry Collection *Not confirmed, but possible*
Silent Hill Collection 12/01/11
ICO / Shadow Of The Colossus 09/27/11
Resident Evil Collection *Not confirmed*
Metal Gear Solid Collection 11/08/11
God Of War Collection *Out Now*
God Of War Origins Collection *PSP* 9/13/11
