Recommend me booze! I don't drink. Hate alcohol taste.

why do you feel you need to drink FBB? I drink now and again, but alcohol isn't my thing, so I hardly do. Whats it matter if you drink or not? If you're not enjoying it you shouldn't be wasting money on it. Just try something new now and again when it's convenient otherwise just enjoy what you like 🙂

Where? Every single beer I've had has a disgusting bitter taste to it - and I've tried quite a few beers. There is no such thing as a good [tasting] beer.

/agree - "Really though, drinking is highly overrated."

I said that up until this past summer when I had my first chilled Steam Whistle. It tasted fine, not like a good sweet fountain coke, but fine. I've since grown to like Heineken too. But you really have to drink it cold, once it gets remotely warm, the bitter/ass taste becomes very pronounced.

Still haven't figured out how to drink Jack Daniels. Too sweet watered down, too sweet straight up, weird when mixed with coke.

If you hate the taste of alcohol drinks, why do you want to drink them?

If you want to do it to fit in, learn to like beer or mixed drinks. If you go the foofoo girly drink route, people will be convinced that you are gay. If that's what you want people to think and you're ok with it, then that's fine but be prepared for that reaction.

You may want to consider a brandy sour, with your favorite flavor fruit brandy. You get some sweet, some sour, and since it's brandy, it's usually lower alcohol level, so you won't taste it quite so much.

I used to do the occasional blackberry brandy sour, way back in the day. :awe:

Amaretto sours are going to be his best bet. Brandy is too strong.

Mitigating the effects

Much anecdotal evidence suggests that ingestion of low doses of heartburn medicine, containing ranitidine or famotidine (such as Zantac or Pepcid AC), may be able to relieve the body of the symptoms if taken 30-60 minutes before drinking.
FBB, perhaps you should try this if you get all pukey after two beers/drinks.

After reading through this thread I've come to one conclusion: FBB should stay clear of all alcohol. You can order non-alcoholic stuff when you go out to the bar with your friends, and you don't necessarily need to get your drink on to have a good time.

I second this post. Maybe FBB should be the DD for his group and leave it at that.

I don't drink much because I don't like the alcohol taste either. Beer is too bitter to me, although I did have one that I might be able to tolerate. Can;t think of wtf it was though. I think it started with an M and might be Moulson (spelling?).

I prefer the fruity tasting stuff though. Mixed drinks are my best bet. I like Whiskey Sours, and I love Mojitos. There's another I've had but can't remember the name. I think it was something hurricane or tornado or something like that.

You might like a caipirinha as well. That is probably my favorite mixed drink and I was going to suggest it to FBB, but I seriously think he has an alcohol allergy and should just stick to non-alcoholic beverages.

Honestly noone likes alcohol. As ironwing said it is a poison. Alcohol itself tastes like utter shit, we only drink it because of the side effects.

Really the best way to drink a bit to get buzzed when you really don't care for it at all, just drink two half-shots (vodka good) with chasers. You get the buzz you're looking for, and you get to just do it and be done with it and get the taste out of your mouth

I'll leave the "poison" part to someone who will do it more eloquently than I would.

“Alcohol is a Poison”

by David J. Hanson, Ph.D.

A poison is any substance that is capable of causing injury, illness or death to an organism. 1 Salt, water and oxygen are all poisons because in high enough quantities they can harm people. Too much salt in a diet can cause serious health problems, hyper hydration can kill athletes, and too much oxygen given to a premature infant can cause permanent blindness.

Toxicologists emphasize that “the dosage makes the poison.” Although salt, water, oxygen, aspirin, alcohol beverages, and many other substances can cause poisoning in excessive amounts, it makes no sense to call them poisons.

So why do so many groups and organizations insist on calling alcohol a poison? Apparently to stigmatize alcoholic beverages and frighten people into alcohol abstinence. The tactic was first used effectively by the Anti-Saloon League, the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, the KKK and other anti-alcohol groups. 2 The technique is still widely used today. 3

Honest communication doesn’t mislead or deceive. Calling alcohol a poison is misleading and deceptive.

To be honest alcoholic drinks can be incredibly delicious too. Does it take a while for your palate to adapt and appreciate them? Probably, but the same applies for bitter tastes too and you don't hear people saying things like "Coffee itself tastes like utter shit, we only drink it because of the side effects." There are lots of flavors that are only alcohol soluble, there are lots of incredible scents and flavors put off by alcohol producing yeast, the bite of alcohol can refreshingly palate cleansing. Just because you don't appreciate it, doesn't mean everyone else that drinks it is just out to get a buzz. To me there's nothing as refreshing as a gin and tonic on a hot day, a good beer just about anytime where you really taste the malt and the hops, or a delicious smoke filled scotch sipped on a cold night.

Now to the OP: Wow it sounds like you're run through a pretty big list there. More troubling though is your extreme tendency to get sick. If you enjoy cider, have one now and then and maybe just stick to it. Check out the flushing stuff people have talked about too. A readily available cider that I like more than woodchuck is strongbow. It still is a relatively sweet non-traditional cider, but its less sweet than woodchuck and I find it more refreshing. Woodchuck makes me want to drink some water to wash the sugar down. If you can tolerate a little vodka taste, maybe try a vodka tonic. The juniper taste of gin can be overpowering for some, vodka will avoid that, add a little fizz and some bitter/sweet flavors.

There is no need to enjoy alcohol. It is fermented and therefore poisonous by its very nature. Alcohol is mainly for people in their upper 30's and older who start losing their taste for other foods and need something new. It is my belief that alcohol consumption prematurely ages people.

With that mentioned, I have two suggestions.
The Zubrowka seems to be exactly what you are looking for with respect to a fine and sour vodka.

you guys are suggesting stuff thats way too hard for a beginner.

here are some of my 'light' favorites. if i was bartending, i would serve all of these to a girl, but it is acceptable for a guy to drink these. just dont drink the same ones all night and you can avoid the 'oh hes a girly man' factor.

medium/high quality vodka + oj

southern comfort (70 proof) + generous splash of rose's lime juice + 7up (or if you can get it, chilsung cider, korean 7up)

midori melon + pineapple juice

Ummm what? You're aware that a great deal off food products are fermented and it has nothing to do with poison right? We're talking about things like bread, yogurt, cheeses, sauerkraut, pickles, vinegar and about a million other foods.

OK, I also greatly dislike most alcohol so I feel I am highly qualified to give advice here, however I have about 50 bottles of liqour and love to mix drinks. I can also handle more than 2 drinks but I digress.

There was already a thread where we decided that some Asians are allergic to alcohol and FBB is probably one of them....at least I think it was FBB....but either way it was discussed to death.

But I repeat my suggestion: Sea Breeze. If you don't want to taste alcohol, this is a great drink.

No. He is trying to drink to be cool around friends and/or girls. A Sea Breeze is unacceptable.

Yes, very good idea.

Don't drink. Recommend booze? Why do you want to drink if you don't like it? I'm confused.

How about grape juice, orange juice, and lemonade? I've been just fine with those three and never felt the need for alcohol (it smells nasty anyway!).

EWWW ALCOHOL ICKY!
1) The effects are fun
2) It's socially accepted that when you go out and you are 21 you drink

turns out your a girl

Turns out you're a druggie and you don't know how to spell.

Good man, great suggestions.

FBB, here's the list you have to try:

1) Mixed Drinks. Lots of Sours
Amaretto Sour
Brandy Sour (blackberry would be great, most bars will have a lot of different fruits)
Midori Sour
Whiskey Sour (specifically ask the bartender to make it weak)
Malibu and Dr. Pepper: this is an INCREDIBLE drink that I haven't heard anyone else ever order but I have gotten 4 of my friends hooked. Very sweet, can't taste alcohol if it's made right (1/4 or 1/3 malibu)
Kahlua and Milk (if you don't mind a little coffee taste). Again, 1/4-1/3 Kahlua.
Vanilla Vodka and Pineapple
Midori and Pineapple
Alabama Slammer (again ask the bartender to make it weak) - I make mine with 1 part soco, 1 part amaretto, 2 parts OJ, 2 parts pineapple, 1 part grenadine (you can throw in 1 part peach schnapps as well). Most bars make it stronger so that's why you would ask for it weak.

2) Shots
Buttery Nipple (bailey's and butterscotch schnapps
Chocolate Covered Banana (1/2 banana liqueur 1/2 creme de cacao)
"Chocolate Cake" - smother a lemon in sugar. Suck on the lemon then take a shot of 1/2 Frangelico and 1/2 Vanilla Vodka. It tastes exactly like chocolate cake.

3) Bottled Drinks
Ace's Pear Cider - You won't find a lot of places which carry this but when you do it's great. Woodchuck Pear Cider is also good.

That is true, good point since I did not think of that. There is something different about alcohol though since it disturbs our bodily functions and cognitive ability. I have never felt comfortable with the disturbance alcohol creates and have never enjoyed it.

Well Chinese food disturbs my cognitive abilities but I eat that. 😛
