Latest BIOS supports 90nm CPU's, so don't forget to flash either. ;p

but ... if it doesnt support 90nm before flash, how the hell am i going to get it to turn on.. (i am buying a 90nm, and no not have a 130nm to boot it up)

I believe Monarch computers provide some sort of service that flashes the bios to the latest one for you. I am not sure if it's free though.

EZ-Flash should do the job: have the floppy with the latest BIOS inserted and press Alt + F2 during POST. It should automatically flash the BIOS. As far as I can recall, during this period, the CPU is either not needed at all or is underclocked (heavily).

Edit: Actually, come to think of it... How is the BIOS flash data being processed? Indeed, with a CPU. 😛 So I'm guessing it'll just underclock. I've seen this happening with other CPUs on certain motherboards. I can't guarantee anything, though.

Usually with a CPU that is not read by the board it is because it does not properly read the ID string of the CPU. That does not mean the CPU will not function in the board without the latest BIOS.

I may be building someone a 939 rig and I am looking at this board also. Do you guys think that VIA chipset boards are any more or less likely to support dual core 939s when they eventually come out over and nforce 3 based board?

There is a lot of info on this at both VIA's and NVidia's websites. Both chipsets will support PCI-e with SLI (dual card support) with their high end versions. Nothing out yet but look for these new motherboards over the next few weeks. There is a good article about the NForce4 and the various option levels that will be available with boards supporting this chipset this week on this website.

If you are going to buy a new graphics card for your new socket 939 system I strongly recommend waiting for some of these PCI-e boards to come out and pick up a PCI-e graphics card. You should see these very very soon and PCI-e gives you much better upgrade options down the road, especially if your board and graphics card support SLI.
