Salutations,

I am in the market for a new LCD monitor, preferably something 24" or larger. I had my eyes on the Dell 2408 and Samsung's 245T, but I decided against it because of the high input lag. Can anyone recommend me some excellent +24" LCD monitors that are excellent for gaming? I'd like to spend around $600-$1000.

BenQ G2400W end of story unless you go with the 24" dell ultrasharp. The BenQ is SOOO much better then the sammy or any other TN panel for that matter. Mine has ZERO backlight bleed or ghosting. It's very angles are actually suprisingly good too. The color came calibrated veryo good from the factory.

I SHOPPED FOR EVER FOR A 24" LCD...so glad I went with the BenQ over the Acer, Sammy, and Westinghouse

I don't want to purchase a TN panel screen.

No, no they are not.

Anyways, yeah. The L246/L245 (Same monitor, different model #) is the best 24" around, benq's non-tn 24" is close, but has scaling issues. Get the LG.

Sorry, was tired last night & forgot a letter.

LG L246WP-BN

That's an MVA.
I forget whether it's A-MVA or P-MVA, but it doesn't really matter, it's a very nice display.

Two of my buddies own them, & i've worked on others...they're not going to be perfect (there's no such 24") , but they're certainly good.

That's great and all, but unless I missed it, there isn't any mention of exactly "what type" of
panel each one is. Have a link to a more detailed direct shootout?

Check out XTKnights LCD thread. 5 out of the 7 best gaming panels are TN's.
The 2 out of the 7 are H-IPS panels and are VERY expensive in comparison.

can u list those in order for me?? please

OP, this fits into your budget:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16824185007

IPS panel, 1900x1200. Relatively low input lag. Unfortunately it's a bit bigger than 24" (25.5), so you'll have to sit further away. I finally got to play with one, and I can't say utterly I hate it (unlike every other LCD monitor I've ever tried). That may be my next monitor.

I have owned the Samsung 245BW, and have used it on Crysis, UT3, WoW, Oblivion, along with a 9800 gtx. I have also used it for dvds. Excellent screen and plan on buying a 2nd for dual screen display. You can find it at samsclub website for 399.98

I think generally people believe TNs to be better due to faster response times. What they forget is that picture quality is sub-par compared to an MVA panel, and if you are going for a 1920x1200 or 2560x1600 monitor, I'd assume the quality of your image is of some importance to you. The LG has a good response time, and there is no noticeable lag or ghosting when gaming on it playing an FPS.

Sure a TN will have a better response time, but the LG doesn't display any noticeable input lag and the quality of and crispness and depth and vibrance of colour on your screen is far superior to what you see on a TN panel. I have a high quality samsung TN and the picture is nowhere near as nice as it is on my L246.

The LG is a great monitor, I've used the dell 24" and it is not as nice.

If you're really fussy about response times go for a TN, but before you make that choice I suggest going to a retail shop and comparing a 24" TN to a 24" MVA panel LCD. I think I can say with confidence the difference you see in picture quality will sell you on an MVA panel. It's quite noticeable.

There is a reason MVA panel LCDs are more expensive than TNs.

I can't vouch for the OP, but I needed a non-TN panel so my girlfriend and I can watch movies/shows on my computer from the bed. Vertical viewing angle on TNs would have been a major issue.

yea, but that reason isn't because it is "better" The manufacture and material just costs more, nothing more.

IMO, if you do alot of gaming, FPS or MMORPG, go for a TN panel with faster response time. It makes a second and where you will be playing 1920 or above resolution, you will notice the lag.

If you do alot of photo editing, photoshops, illustrator and care more about accurate colors and less wash out.... then you might consider a MVA

Kether, have you ever used an LCD monitor?

My girlfriend has a 19" TN panel. We've tried using it for watching stuff (before I ordered this monitor, I was considering the BenQ 24" TN)... no matter what we adjusted, it just wouldn't work for both of us, and it was a HASSLE.

Seriously, people have different reasons for different monitors. As far as response time... she has an 8ms TN panel and neither of us can tell any input lag or response time issues compared to my (now dying) CRT. It bothers some people way more than others.

Respect other's priorities, even if they don't make sense to you.

I recently got the LG 245WP. Every monitor I looked at seemed to have a flaw, either too pricey, input lag, colour, viewing angles etc.
This one seemed to be a good all-rounder. If I could find a BenQ 241WP for descent price I may have gone with that.

Anyway been playing Homeworld 2, Prince of Persia 2, COD 4, C&C3 Kanes Wrath and am very happy with the performance.
