Anything at all + Brita filter.

Really, what does that do when you filter it through a Brita?

A bunch of guys did a test, might be a YouTube video. They took a cheap $10 handle of store brand vodka, the kind that tastes like rubbing alcohol, and ran it through a Brita. After four filters, the vodka tasted pretty much like the more reputable brands. I can't remember if they compared it to something like Smirnoff or Grey Goose, although I want to say the later.

Yeah, but what do 4 Brita filters cost? Might as well just buy decent vodka and save yourself the trouble of filtering it.

Fvck that. Just run it through one Brita filter a couple of times. They're like $3-$4 a pop, so you wind up spending a half hour and $13-$14 for a handle of vodka that would've cost more than double/triple that.

The Goose is good, but really not worth the price. Kettle One is on par and cheaper.

Stoli is an excellent buy for it's price. You can get 750ml for 14.99 around here and it's close to Kettle One.

1. Hanger One
2. Kettle One
3. Stoli

That's basically my preference.

Tito's? OMG do NOT drink that stuff straight. It's basically like Absolut and has a horrible after taste. Even my wife said it was some of the worst stuff she's tasted.

Hanger One is a little known company out of CA that creates their vodka out of an old hanger. It's some really good stuff. They have several different flavors, but I've only had the original and orange.

Stoli now has the Elit. I've not had a chance to try it yet. Must do that soon.

In the end, why on earth would you spend $200 on VODKA? It's Vodka for christ sake! You're not going to be able to tell the difference from $40-50 bottle and a $200 bottle! That's a complete and utter waste. It's nothing but a status symbol/marketing. It's not aged like Tequila.

Vodka is not aged so it will never be as expensive tequila, scotch, or bourbon's.

Ketl One Lemon is my favorite for doing Vodka shots but I prefer Tequila in every way.

Heh i know, i did see a $100 bottle there about 2 months ago but it was a Black Cherry flavored vodka
If i go to BevMo i was leaning towards the Stoli elite or the Roberto Cavalli anyway

and i too prefer tequila for shots and most mixed drinks but when i go clubbing or somethign i always get vodka redbulls cuz it is easy to keep drinking and keeps me moving lol

OP, you are a sad lonely geek if you rounded up your "alcohol collection" just to take a pic for ATOT!

i love my vodka's and personally my preference is for belvedere. I will usually either drink it on the rocks or in a martini.

Sort of off topic, but for $9 for 750ml Seagram's makes a very smooth vodka. It doesn't have any of that rubbing alcohol taste/burning taste that most of the low tier vodkas have.

Actually pretty good stuff for the money.

$9 for 750, puts a handle in the $20 range, which means it shouldnt have a rubbing alcohol taste.

It's the sh!t like McCormicks thats $10 a handle thats nasty. Any vodka thats in the mid $20s should be okay. Not exactly as smooth as Belvedre or Grey Goose, but alot better than that $10 a handle crap.

I bought a 1.75L of Belvedere in a gift set with two martini glasses for $42.99 last week.

That night went awesome.

A couple people already mentioned it but Belvedere is pretty good.
I think its even smoother than Grey Goose.

I can drink it like water.

(Though it doesnt have the same effect on my system. ;) )

I think GG is better than Belvedere with less after taste but they are very close. Chopin being made from potatos has a slightly different texture in a way, i am not sure if it is the texture of a certain taste that makes it feel different, but also good. Level is on par with all of them but i would rather buy the first 3 over the latter. These are regular vodkas though since we never buy anything less. I wanted a premium vodka, and one that wasn't common. I guess the stoli Elit fits the bill for this weekend but i am going to look up this place in Beverly Hills. It is called like the Ice Box or something. It is a bar but they have a glass ice box that you pay $100 to go into (they provide you with fur coats and those russian fur hats to keep warm) and it is filled with premium and rare vodkas from around the world, for your $100 you get to choose any 3 shots from the selection.

haha. i use to work at trader joes and we sell it there. i am sorry i don't care how good it might be it is under $20 a bottle and it has a plastic cap with a copper "chrome" finish to it.

most ppl didn't get what i was asking for so i am updating the OP

So if they put a cork in it and sold it for $40 it'd be better? Not defending it because I haven't tried it yet -- but you're logic is retarded. Just picked up a bottle and I'll give it a go later.

Well since it's necro'd...

want to update about Stoli Elit?

Curious if there is a premium taste to it, considering it's over 3x as much as regular Stolichnaya. And that is my go-to regular purchase, great for mixing and just as good served straight, especially right out of the freezer. So damn smooth, extremely low flavor profile ... it's basically what vodka should be.
Though Stoli is hardly a preferable sipping vodka. I do wonder if the higher-price ones would have a good characteristic that lends well to sipping versus simple shots.

I will say if anyone is looking for a pricey "gift" vodka, Bong is where it is at. The bottle is shaped like a bong, and is simply named Bong.
I believe it is somewhere between $60-80 for the bottle, and not sure if it's 750ml or 1L.
My BIL got it as a wedding gift from his parents. He's a huge vodka fanatic, and after shaking it on ice, it was quite simply the most majestic shot of vodka I have ever had.
Wouldn't buy it for myself, but it was quite the tasty vodka. It just had a character to it, something that other vodkas that I have served in equal fashion didn't match. Again, not worth paying for 1 bottle what I could for 4 liters of Stoli, but it was goooood. :)

200???? Their is nothing that differentiates a 25.00 to a 200.00 bottle other than marketing. Vodkas don't get better with age, they aren't aged in rare wood casks. Their is nothing special to them at all.

If you want to spend money on a bottle get something worth it. Start with johnny walker blue.
