200???? Their is nothing that differentiates a 25.00 to a 200.00 bottle other than marketing. Vodkas don't get better with age, they aren't aged in rare wood casks. Their is nothing special to them at all.

If you want to spend money on a bottle get something worth it. Start with johnny walker blue.

Yeah I'll drink Grey Goose at a bar because its usually only 10-30% more than well or whatever else. For bottles at home I usually stick with Skyy which is about 1/3 the price of Grey Goose and almost as smooth. That or I'll pick up a 750ml of various flavored vodkas.

definitely the goose!!!

greygoose!

1) greygoose
2) absolut
3) kamchatka (super cheap and was suprisingly good).

I can't help but laugh at this. I think you need to try more than 3 vodkas.

It's my duty as a Texan to recommend Tito's Handmade Vodka in every liquor thread.

QFT. Tito's kicks just about everything to the curb, which most definitely includes Grey Goose. I've never had a smoother or better tasting vodka.

Tito's? OMG do NOT drink that stuff straight. It's basically like Absolut and has a horrible after taste. Even my wife said it was some of the worst stuff she's tasted.

Are you sure you were drinking Tito's?

LOL, I hate vodka snobs.

First off, vodka is suppose to be a neutral, odorless, and tasteless drink. It's suppose to be like water with a burning sensation and a kick at the end. If you taste ANYTHING AT ALL in your vodka, it is bad vodka by definition. As such, vodka is meant for mixing and not shooting. It does not age as pointed out and typically is overrated and over priced by yuppies. This is partially why the "brita" filter trick works. It filters out possible impurities that add any flavor to the vodka. I personally think it adds charcoal particles to the vodka and adds that to make for an industrial tasting vodka. Personally, I think the brita filtering trick makes for nasty tasting vodka.

However, the best vodkas are smooth and tasteless. If you like drinking good vodka straight up, you might as well down a glass of water as it should taste the same. I think people who only drink vodka straight are pure yuppies. If you want a real straight up drink then go for a good tequila, rum, or whiskey (which includes scotches). My favorite is a toss up between a good bottle of Don Julio or 18 Bushmills.
