There was this movie called "Terminator 2" that was pretty awesome.

Also "Starship Troopers" and "Robocop" were pretty awesome.

"Stargate" was pretty cool back in the day too, as well as the "Alien" franchise.

Doubt you have ever heard of any of those though since you live under a fucking rock.

First 2 Alien movies kick ass. Robocop was a kick in the ass too, total genius for its time, probably still works. And T2 rocked (as did T1, but different movies entirely).

Well if there can be only one...it would be back to the future, although highlander is sci-fi as well I guess and it is very good.

Also my runner up recommendations are barbarella psychedelia, and Flash! aaa aaaaaaaa Gordon.
 
Leviathan 1989

The ratings are crap for this movie, but I pretty much enjoyed it. I recommend this movie because it is a cheap cross between The Abyss and Alien.
