Minimum wage in most of Mississippi and Alabama will get you a better standard of living than $10/hr in New York.

What does that have to do with anything?

Edit: Haha, touche. Missed the equally irrelevant post above it.

I live in North Carolina and I have never heard the "N" word dropped here like I did when I lived in New Jersey. Northerners are every bit as racist as southerners.

I never hear anyone drop the n word. you must hang around racists because thats what you are

Whatever you say sunshine. You must not come out of your house very much. Oh, thats right... you live in la la land.

i find your avatar fitting.

How about you answer the questions in the op?

Do you think obama is a muslim?

Do you believe in evolution?

you base where you want to live on if the minimum wage is livable? buahaha you fail at life.

No, I was just saying that the cost of living is much lower in the south. What is wrong with living in the south? You seem to not know much about it. Maybe you should get away from San Fran or Philly or wherever else la la land is.

everyone knows the cost of living is lower in the south, no one wants to live there.

Answer my questions?

I think Obama is atheist or agnostic. He is no more than a poser christian, whatever it takes to further his political career.

😀😀😀😀

oh man. I actually wish he was an atheist. This country needs one as president.

What about evolution?

Do you believe in evolution?

I am atheist and believe in evolution and I am also a Republican. Is that hard to believe? I believe living in a christian nation is a good thing and I believe christians are generally good people and the teachings of jesus christ create a good moral platform for one to live his/her life.

Actually yes it is.

Why do you think that? You should look into humanist

Musch better and more peaceful and open then some 2000 year old fake book. As an atheist I would think you would prefer something grounded in reality? No?

QFT. Racism knows no geographic bounds, but being called out on it certainly does.

Then why did 90% of all Congressmen and Senators, both dems and reps, who represented the south, vote against the Civil Rights Act of 1965, and a like number of dems and reps representing the rest of country voted in favor of it? Racism may not know any strict "boundaries," but it does display regional trends.

Why are you judging us based on what happened in 1965? That was over 45 years ago. A lot has happened down here since then.

I would actually like to see a distribution of opinions. Alabama is an interesting state, because looking at the counties will show you a blue-dotted bullseye. Jefferson County is in the middle of the state and has the largest city (Birmingham) and is also quite liberal compared to the rest of the state. It's also not that bad further up north, but from what I've heard, it's rather bad (i.e. very hick-ish) if you go down south near Montgomery (although supposedly Montgomery itself isn't that bad).

But then you have to ask yourself, "are good morals and Christian beliefs a mutually inclusive thing?" The answer is no. I used to be a Baptist, and I understand where you're coming from... those were some good people! 😛 However, it still doesn't change the fact that you don't have to believe in Jesus to be a good person.

In fact, one of the things that always bothered me about religious folk was the blatant hypocrisy. I recall a time in college when I saw a friend talk about having sex with his girlfriend (unwed obviously) with ash on his forehead (it was Ash Wednesday). But it's cool... he probably asked for forgiveness. 🙄

What has changed in the south was largely imposed from the outside, from the various laws and SCOTUS opinions, to the era of political correctness where racists tend not to use the "n word" like they used to. Not that racism hasn't diminished in the south. I'd be surprised if it hasn't, to some extent.

However, I would turn the question around on you, and ask what has happened in the past 40 years that would suggest a total reversal of a cultural trend that existed in that region since colonial times?

Folks from other states are moving in and diluting the population, myself included. Visit this place 12 years ago and it wasn't cool if a black person served you at a restaurant. That's no longer the case.

The backlash against the Civil War and the Civil Rights Act diminishes over time.

You mean Southern whites didn't want blacks serving them in restaurants? How progressive of them.

Thats nice. There is still the whole religion thing that happens down there in the "bible belt". ew.

Never noticed this myself. Honestly, I've never seen a restaurant in my state that doesn't have at least one black waiter or cook. This is from the high end places all the way down to Taco Bell..
