What's ATVC&G think about this card?

It'll be running in the system below and replacing an HD 5870.

Thanks!

Well, I'll say, I had a Ghz 7970 and it would run absolutely anything I throw at it at 1920x1200. Time to upgrade that monitor!

Hmm I prefer to think of that as future proofing! :p

I figured I might be bottlenecked by the CPU and the Rez but screw it I'll just jack up the settings.

I too want this BIOS. Are there two different versions though, a GHZ and a "Boost"? Anyone know?

I also got a 7970 lightning for Christmas, and it is a beastly card. At 1.25v it hits 1.2ghz and 1500 on the memory. The temps are 55 degrees at full load with the fans on auto. It is an amazing piece of engineering.

Lucky you, now you just need some games to push that thing. Good thing there is that thing called the "Steam Holiday Sale".

Wow, he sounds just like you.

7970's are made specifically to run multi-monitors so if you use them on one display your card will rape for quite some time to come.

;) I get tons of pm's all the time. It's hard to stay on top of all of them. Some definately fall through the cracks.

Edit.*****

I just counted 52 pm's in 48 hours. How many did you get?

Hey just saw you PM. I haven't installed it yet but when I get to it this week I'll shoot you a copy.

Only other thing is the box looks like the New edition but until I get it installed I'm not sure how to tell what the clocks are.

Edit:

I think this card is the normal Lightning GHZ edition and not the boost edition.

Guess I'll just have to OC normally. :) :p
