Recall Republican Wisconsin Governor Walker status update thread

So I haven't been watching this closely...
Did they get the required signatures for the recall ballot?

I'd love to see him recalled, but that will probably fail.
Walker is a young opinionated person and a rising star in the republican party.
Has a bright republican future.
As much as the progressives hate him and how he runs the state, Walker
will probably squeak by and win.
If he was older, or wimpy, or seen as weak, then he would lose.
But people love a pig headed politician.
GW knows all about how that works...

Most Americans are feeling the pain of the recession...yet unions are demanding higher wages and better benefits. Is it any wonder why most people have begin realizing unions are no longer the solution, but actually a big part of the problem?

Walker has been very good for me as a taxpayer and as a citizen.

Good thing we're actually killing regressive "temporary" tax proposals too (such as the proposed "wheel tax" - they NEVER end up being temporary (e.g. stadium tax).

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

I'm sure being a staunch supporter of the 2A helps with the supposed master plan. I wonder why my constitutional, natural right has been restored under a supposed tyrant?

Wow...you (jstern01, in case there is confusion) really actually favorably compared the reducing of the power of a public employee union with imprisoning / killing a group of people?

I see what you missed.

I did this in jest. Just to show how easy it is to be a liberal. Replace thinking with slogans

Come on unions! Waste all your money and effort in Wisconsin and have that much less to spend for November 2012!

I sure will enjoy the extra cash flowing into our state. Some local business owners are smiling all the way to the bank credit union.

Please show me the Documentation where the Unions were demanding higher wages which led to this Union stripping law.

You actually think it's only Unions putting there resources into the Recall. Oh another funny thing you see to think Unions are the only source of campaign income for President Obama? LMAO

If you take a gander at the following chart you will come to realize that 46% of all of President Obama's campaign contributions come from small donors unlike the Mittster..

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres12/index.php?ql3

Another tidbit you could come away from after seeing this chart are the following:

1) President Obama is BLOWING away all the competition.

2)The only 2 serious contender contribution wise are Scary Perry and the Mittster.

Wait....are you being serious? Are you actually claiming unions do not call for higher wages and better benefits on a routine basis? Really? You are really claiming this?

No wonder no one actually takes you seriously!

That and your refusal to explain why the SEIU should be allowed to take union dues from parents who care for disabled kids and receive government assistence to do so.

Just wow...I am still in shock by your lack of touch with reality.

I will humor you, though:

In the time of major budget crunches and layoffs in education, a teacher’s union in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is fighting for the right to Viagra.
From CNN’s affiliate WISN: “The union claims that some teachers could be discriminated against by not having the drug covered by insurance.”
The station also reports that the Milwaukee school system is about $30 million in debt. Erectile dysfunction pills cost about $20 to $25 a pop - that most insurance companies do not provide coverage.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported: “In 2008, the teachers' union filed a charge with the state's Equal Rights Division, complaining that not offering the drug violated the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act.”

Adding drugs to their plan means more benefits.

Milwaukee students are likely to face more difficult classroom conditions this year because of the Milwaukee teachers union’s refusal to contribute 5.8% of their salaries to their pension plans. Without the concession, the expected result is almost 1,000 less teachers and staff members in Milwaukee schools.[1]
“The teachers’ union in Milwaukee would rather force massive layoffs than allow teachers to start making very modest contributions to their pension plans,” said Stephan Thompson, Executive Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. “With teacher compensation packages averaging over $100,000 a year in Milwaukee, giving a little toward a pension plan doesn't seem to be a big sacrifice.[2] The union bosses have hidden behind the 'it's about the children' excuse for years, but this glaring example of selfishness shows what they truly care about: money.”

Just to compare that $100k to other Wisconson workers:

Per the Department of Commerce, in 2009, the average personal income for all Wisconsin workers was $37,398.

Show me the documentation....That the Union stripping law was put in place to stop Unions from asking for higher wages....

I'm sure he supports the SEIU collecting union dues from Medicaid payments.

I'm beginning to think he may be a Union representative.

My statement was that unions fight to have higher wages and more benefits. You attempted to counter that claim by saying that in the few moments before the law was passed they were not fighting for it, and all those battles for more pay and benefits in the years prior to the law do not count.

I am starting to like you now that I understand you are the AnandTech court jester. I bet you even wear bells on your hat

Unions do not fight for more pay and benefits...that is priceless!

That was your attempt to change the subject I was talking about, and I ignored it like the idiocy it was.

I very explicitly said:

So...are you claiming unions are not demanding higher wages and better benefits? That is what I said, not what you pretended I said so you could change the conversation.

Apparently I am going to have to turn on my deflection defense system (at which the Russians have missiles currently targeted).
