I fly the Nazi flag because to deny history is folly.

Whatever happened to rational thinking? It's just amazing what passes for it.

You are absolutely right (and you aren't even threatening me this time). There were a lot of German soldiers that thought of the NAZI flag as the flag of their country and who couldn't see the holocaust from their foxholes. They were just doing their duty as citizens. Despite the wailing of bunches of shallow thinkers, it is just a part of history. Our Ambo in Kiev wanted the Iron Maiden torn down. In the end, he had to agree that it was just a part of history. Oh, you don't know what I am talking about do you? Sorry!

I live in the Northwest, my granddad lives in Texas, my dad grew up in Texas, and my mom grew up in Oregon. That being said, I couldn't care less about the rebel flag. A sign of a bygone society in a bygone age. I don't cling to a flag as a symbol of my beliefs or self-worth.

This is just a freedom of speech issue. Maybe all African Americans should put a white flag with a raised black fist. Some kind of Black Pride Flag.

If it is legal to burn the US Flag, who cares about some flag that represented the south? A lot of this is about the right that states have to defy the federal government and protest too much government intervention in our lives and in the affairs of individual states. I dont think southern states should care what some jerk in New York thinks about the south.

We don't. We just hope he stays in New York!

I think the a** F***s should care. The northeast is the economic and intellectual center of this country. What the hell has the south ever done except bring misery to others?

Especially Texas. Nothing grows there, its hot as hell, and the people are annoying. Complain about welfare LOL. We pay for most of these states.

Nope.. no elitism there. ROFL
In the traditional Repub fashion -

Tell me what isn't true about the above?

Texas produces 20.2% of the US's cotton.
Why is "hot as hell" any worse than "colder than a witch's tit?"
Who do you think would rank as more rude and annoying in a poll, NYers or Texans?
Cotton is fine. But you very well know that we have the stock market, central government, museums and good bars up here. Why do you think Al-Qaeda attacking DC and NYC?

NYers in general do come off as rude but they will help you out in need dude. They just know what they want to do and go straight for it. The Texans I have met for the most part - are very uneducated and talk a LOT about cars. Thats all well and good but once the subject changes to something more complex they are at a loss. They are also very herd like. I think your personality has been molded by Texas. If you came up here I bet you would become a liberal, pinko, educated snob 🙂

That said you have a point it is cold in the northeast (well right now its like 95 degrees but the winters suck) and cold vs. hot is all personal preference.

Not to confuse you, but the stock market, central government, museums and good bars up here mean nothing without cotton, soybeans, beef, pork, timber, and many other of the finer things of life which are produced in the red states and sold through New York. How long do you really think it would take us to find another cash register. We already have Atlanta, just waiting for New York to falter. I'll bet we could have another financial center a lot faster than you could grow groceries.

Time for a reality check. There can not be anyone in the United States that really thinks slavery is, was, or will ever be a good thing. Hopefully, we have at least learned that lesson. The Civil war was bloody and was fought for possibly various reasons. However, to deny it was at least partly due to slavery and those who benefitted from slavery is a bit far sided. I know that people on the left and right coast think that they know what is right for the rest of the country. However, the history of the norheast states and the states like Texas, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana are equally valid. Southerners have to have a way of remembering what their forefathers did and how they died. If the Rebel Flag helps them to remember their own history, then I think they have a right to fly it. The Rebel Flag is a symbol of rebellion and many young people from the south or other places identify with being a rebel and fighting against the system.

When you go to see dukes of Hazard, if you go to see it, you will not see people who remember slavery fondly, you will only see people who identify with the south and live proud lives. The Rebel flag has become more than just fighting for slavery. Those that fought for the south did not all own slaves, but they fought anyway. I cant begin to understand why the war had to be fought or why anyone could possibly defend slavery, but I will defend their right to fly the rebel flag. I have never met a slave, and I cant possibly understand what that means, but people can have different views and still be Americans.

The Federal Government also tried to put down a supposed rebellion in the territory of Utah. They sent troops to quell an insurrection in the territory of Utah that did not even exist. It was met with opposition of a peacful resistance and an eventual peaceful solution was found. There was no revolt against the USA in the territory of Utah, but the Federal Government still had to attempt to start a war there. This is how pompous the federal government was back then.

Never forget tyranny!

Lets not forget also, that the Federal government under the Stars and Stripes was still killing native Americans after the Civil war. Some native Americans think less of the Stars and Stripes than some of you do the Southern Cross.

If you're an American your allegiance is to the Stars and Stripes, not some southern relic from slavery. If you want to pledge allegiance to some rebel flag you're in the wrong country.

I'd agree.

So you would also agree with mandatory pledge of allegiance in public schools right?
Liberals cant get it both ways, sorry.

Instead of a snide retort.
Explain how you can be against the freedom to honor the confederate flag, claim to be all about "pledging allegiance to the Stars and stripes" but would be against having kids who attend the American public school system to pledge allegiance to that flag?

Liberals would rather insult than anything. Good job keeping the faith. You have displayed yourself to a be a total twit.

What the hell are you talking about?

My forefathers had their homeland ripped from them, by American evil doers (those damn Yankees). To me the confederate flag represents the glory of what my ancestors once had and also represents the crimes against humanity that was purportrated against the law abiding, god fearing folk of the South.

🙂

ps Does anyone else relate the China/Taiwan problem to our old confederate states sucession problem of the past. Seems like we are telling China to NOT do what we did.

We're preserving farmland here in NJ. We're known as The Garden State.

I'm sure that excuse never worked with your parents. Why would you think it would work with us?

to you, what does it represent?

it doesn't represent much but I question why people want to display it so much. Do they wish the nation was actually divided in 2?

The courts said in St Louis, MO they had to let the KKK put up their adopt a highway sign. However, the public kept taking the signs down.

It is OK for Liberals to defend communism and the Palestinians and even the People in Iran, but you are worried about a few Red Necks who chose to fly a Rebel Flag? How Quaint!

Rebel Flag is symbol of oppression and should not be allowed. Its like allowing Baath Part in Iraq to display Saddam memrobillia. It just reminds, over and over again, the affected people the pain they or their ancestors went through.
