Just a heads up on a long outstanding rebate for me, and I thought others might have taken advantage of this deal way back in June. CompUSA had a AcomData External CD-RW drive, ended up FREE after $130 rebate. Rebate's been long in coming, estimate mail date was finally set to Oct 24th. No check yet so I called. The CSR said that rebate mailing was "extended", coudn't say why, but check had not been mailed. Sounded odd to me, pressured them more, they couldn't/wouldn't provide more info. My thought being the company (AcomData) had bailed on paying the rebate. I talked with the CSR's manager (his name was Stewart), he said he said the same thing as the CSR. I informed them that my rebate form said 6-8 weeks and they were already double that -- I wasn't going to accept a longer wait. He said he would escalate the rebate - it was mailed next day. Called and got check number and confirmed rebate was mailed.

Anyone else waiting for such a check might want to place a call.

I still havent gotten my $40 back from the 80g WD SE hard drive deal from CompUsa.............I sent it in a month ago, I see that some people have gotten theres back, when did you send yours in? And what did you use as the UPC from the box?? There was no barcode on the box itself, so I peeled off that silver sticker w/ the barcode on it and taped that to the rebate form, as well as with my original receipt.........is that where I screwed up? The sticker?

Have you checked your status a www.wheresmyrebate.com (enter just your name and zip), mine isn't suppose to be sent until the end of December. You should generally expect at least 2 months from your submission to TCA before you worry, just make sure that is approved on the website (I always save a capture of the screen showing it has been approved just in case.)

Yeah, says they dont have anything for my rebate yet, possibly because its a recent submission, who knows, I guess I'll just keep on checkin every now and then. Didnt even know that page existed, thanks 🙂

If you are talking about the 2 $30 (each) 40GB OD Maxor'Bates - one (OD) from Walled Lake came last month - and the other (Maxtor) came from Coppell TX last week. I ended up paying less than $20 for it (nice HD!).

Beware of AMAZON. The Addtron $30 USB wireless adaptor rebate apparently is not coming and Amazon refuses to do anything about it. How many others have been burned by this?

Denied CompUSA rebate via e-mail notification:

1. 
   ACOMDATA/40GB 7200RPM FIREWIRE HARD DRIVE REBATE $14.92 x 2
   APC BATTERY BACK-UPS ES 350 REBATE $20

Called and asked why. Reason was that the copy of the receipt was not readable.
Ok... now I made the copies on a huge busniess printer here at work that makes copies that look like the original straight out of a lazer printer. For resolution I need to FAX (what a joke) a copy of the receipt again. How in the world are they hoping to read anything on a fax that they can't off a lazer copy?!

Just another hoop to jump through. I'll be visiting my CompUSA and voice, yet again, my displeasure.

i guess this is kinda a silly question. i was just wondering how everyone sends in their rebates. i recently bought some stuff, (a maxtor 120gb hd $30 + $30 MIR, and philips cdr $14 MIR, from compusa.) I wonder if people use certified mails, or send them in by normal mail. And also if anyone experienced losing the sent rebates in the mail, what happens then? never done these before.

I use regular mail unless the rebate amount is over $50, in which case I use certified. I havent had any submissions get lost yet and I've sent in quite a few.

I have a general and a specific question... first, general - what do people do when they buy 2 products which allow only 1 rebate per person...that is, when you buy the 2nd one for your "friend/family member", do you put their name on the rebate form, or do you just put your name and their address?

2nd, has anyone gotten any confirmation on the Office Depot web-only special $50 rebate on the Compaq iPAQ 3835 from a few months back?
