I also received a rejection postcard from OfficeMax about the Pacific Digital 8x DVD+-RW drive from Feb. 22nd. Actually, I received two postcards, one for the PD drive and one for the I/O Magic drive that was also part of the deal that week (but I didn't buy that one). I cut out the whole box section with both barcodes retained, so it looks like they scanned the wrong one. I called and talked with a completely clueless CSR (did OfficeMax outsource to India?) who just blindly gave me a "one-time exemption" for both postcards without batting an eye (even though I explicitly told him twice that I didn't buy the I/O Magic drive). We shall see in 4-6 weeks what happens with the stupidity on their end.

Finally received the $20.00 rebate from the OfficeMax Pacific Digital DVD-ROM drive from August. However, it is noted on FW that at least one of those rebate checks have bounced because of Nonsufficient funds!!! :|

bump, and just wanted to thank originators and everyone that has contributed information to this thread. RebatesHQ, through a technical error, JUST received my $60 rebate from the hitachi 160 gig drive (Fry's deal from January) and, through some more error, thought that my rebate was invalid. I was able to reach a CSR and they rechecked for me; hopefully the rebate will be arriving soon.

Thanks a lot!

edited for typos.

Still waiting for my Pacific Digital rebate to even show up on the OfficeMax website (purchase 3/5) rejected OR accepted.

My $5 rebate from 3/15 showed up over a week ago on the site... what's the problem with these Pacific Digitals?

My rebate is INVALID due to INVALID UPC. I sent in the UPC from the Pacific Digital / Lite-On 8X. Looks like another rebate screw job by Office Max!!! Anyone get their rebate accepted on the Pacific Digital 8X DVD burner from Office Max? <B></B>Update 3/16/04: I called the Office Max Customer Service Center 888-641-4109 and spoke to a customer service rep (after a couple of failed attempts to navigate their confusing IVR system). Turns out the Pacific Digital UPC has two bar codes, a serial number (top of UPC) and a model number (bottom of UPC). They incorrectly used the serial number bar code instead of the model number bar code to process my rebate submission. The rep applied the correct bar code number and said I should receive my $50 rebate in 4 - 6 weeks.

I checked the status of my $50 Office Max rebate again and it still showed invalid due to wrong UPC. I called again and complained that I thought this had been taken care of back on 3/16/04 when I called the first time. The Rep apologized and said they must have had a computer glitch and he would take care of it. Said the on-line status should change in the next few minutes, it did. They really are doing everything possible to NOT pay this rebate. I'm going to file complaints with the FTC and Better Business Bureau and I suggest that everyone else who got the run around on this rebate do the same. Let's make an example of this one!

Does anyone happen to have a working number to get a live CSR at Parago? The numbers in the first post no longer work and you just get bounced around an automated system. Bastards are trying to screw me on a $90 Hitachi rebate.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone uses delivery confirmation on high dollar rebates (like $75 and over). Is there really any benefit to this? If they claim they don't receive the rebate, they normally let you send in a copy of what you originally sent, right?

I have never used delivery confirmation and have gotten 100% of my rebates paid. I did use certified mail once for a $100 rebate that was going to an address I had never seen before and which had no telephone number for contact.

Parago has some rebates that say they will not accept delivery that requires signatures and have returned them. TCA says that these actually slow down the process. It is my understanding that you can't use delivery confirmation on regular envelopes sent first class. Out-of-regular sizes require individual processing instead of going through the machines that open envelopes, etc and so the one in the padded envelope gets relegated to the desk of the slacker in the basement who only turns in his processed forms monthly.

That's my take on the deal. Just send them in and trust to the process (but keep copies of EVERYTHING.)

They say they never received it!!! At the Epinions site 3 people complain about this rebate being a scam. Has anybody got a rebate check for that monitor from Hyundai ImageQuest America?

Finally got this rebate check on 2/16/04. Took them almost 6 months!!!

Looks like they're doing the same thing to me. The number that was on the rebate form was 1-866-880-9657. Let me know when and how you solved your problem. Thanks!

If this is the $90 rebate for a 200Gbyte Hitachi hard drive (mine was purchased from Fry's in San Diego), then yup, I just got my "Screw You" post card in the mail as well. Reason stated on the post card for dissaproval was:

1. UPC barcode not eligible and
2. Purchase not made within the requird dates

After calling 888-214-9123 and providing the date of my purchase and the UPC number over the phone, they agreed to process my rebate and said I would get it within 4-6 weeks (fortunately I had made copies of both my original receipt and my rebate receipt so I was able to provide the above information when asked).

They did not ask that I re-submit anything, they just gave me a verbal approval over the phone. Hope this helps!

Sorry, forgot to quote the original post in my response earlier.

Hey I'm having problems with the $90 Hitachi rebate. I bought the 180gb with a $90 and $20 rebate so I'm not sure why they're listing the drive as a 200gb on the tracking website. Must be some confusion. Anyways, could you provide me with the UPC number and the date of purchase as well as the offer # or whatever else is relevant. I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks!

The UPC on my rebate receipt is listed as 829686000193. Purchase must be made between 3/19/04 and 4/4/04. Must send in original UPC bar code and be postmarked on or before 4/18/04.

The box the hard drive comes in is labeled as a 200gb drive, but when you install and format the drive it shows up as 180gb.
