Rebate question

If a manufacturer lags on a rebate and doesn't provide contact information, is the retailer liable to compensate me?

Case in point - bought a $30 64MB USB pendrive in April from Fry's, with a $30 rebate. As of August, a report on a site said they had entered about "half" of the submissions.

It's been 7 months.

If I go to Fry's, can I make them give me the $30?

I doubt it. I haven't ever heard of anyone gettin MIR refund from a seller that a manufacturer was supposed to provide. MIR is risky business for the buyers - I've had good luck most of the time. The last time I got shafted was from Sierra (of course) when there was a $20 MIR for retail counterstrike.

The longest was from Dell which took about 6 months and a lot of hassling. You just have to keep on them and always make copies for your own records of all MIR materials so you have at least *some* sorta evidence.

But, yea, Fry's is not gonna hand you $30

😀

I doubt you can make them give you the $30. If you snivel, cry and act like you're going to have a nervous breakdown they may give you a discount your next purchase, though.😉

Call your CC company and dispute the charge. THe rebate is basically a contract between you and the rebate company. If they haven't gotten it back to you in the time they said, and especially if you can't get in contact with them, they have broken their side of the contract.

But I've never seen a MIR that didn't have a website or contact info or something.

Don't you only have like 90 days to dispute a CC charge?

hmm NO.

It does not work that way. you paid for an item and you recieved an item. just because you did not get the rebate does not mean you get the item free.

go ahead and do it. and when you get sued or have your credit ruined come back here and post so we can laugh.

most rebates supposed to be turned around in 30 - 50 days

Storix is in L.A. They have an easily accessible phone number for pushing through rebate claims.

And I seriously doubt Fry's would pay.
