Rebadged Liteon 16x DVD-Roms $50 after MIR @ BB

I've read most of the threads, and while the ads were scanned, no one really mentioned this deal (that I saw).

BB is selling Bus-Link DR16's for $69.99 w/ a $20 MIR, they're really rebadged Lite-On LTD163's, which someone had mentioned were in somewhat of a demaned (they retail for about 85-100). They had a bunch in stock at the B&M when I went there, or they're available online http://www.bestbuy.com/Detail.asp?m=1581&cat=1588&scat=&e=11080092 (although it doesn't list the MIR online for some reason).

Nice drive, pretty quiet, rips DVDs nice and quick, but I tried copying a file off a burned CD to HD and it took an extraordinarily long time, even though someone said this drive is listed as the #2 top speed drive.
 
Not bad, though the Lite-On can be ordered online with shipping and without tax for the same price without having to deal with the rebate hassles.

Still, if I need instant gratification, I just might pick one up. 😉
 
I can identify with the need for instant gratification. I have a new P4 1.6Ghz computer that I built waiting for Hard Drive, DVD Drive, and CDR/W Drive...all that I ordered online. I'm going nuts waiting for them to arrive!

This is a good deal if you don't mind waiting on the rebate. Of course if you can find an "Open Box" one at Best Buy with UPC, the deal becomes even better. 🙂

I've yet to come across a negative review of the Lite-On DVD-ROM (Model 163). Is your evaluation from personal experience or another source? Care to delve into more details?

thanks....I just ordered from BB and used my $30 digital coupon from the video card debacle...for instore pickup. Came to $39.99 plus tax....then minus $20 rebate = $19.99 plus tax!
 
damm... i used the digital coupon to order 30 gift card.

the card hasn't arrived yet.
and the rebate expires tomorrow.

which means... unless the digital coupon comes in today...
i won't be able to use that 20 rebate.

use your BB customer appreciation coupon for 10% off before close of business Sat. night. not that much of a savings but it helps one feel better about waiting for rebate.
 
I have this model and a Toshiba from newegg --- no difference in real life and the newegg Toshiba is $60 shipped 24/7
 
well... i guess if you have that $30 coupon... then order from BB, if not go to dell.

🙂 either way, a good deal for a good dvd-rom
