Never did clubs, Im almost 40 and still go to bars on the weekends with my wife and friends.

Where I live there are tons of cool local bars. My favorite has $5 all you can drink every day from 1-4pm and 9-12pm. Awesome, and can be cheaper than buying your own 6 pack.

You're all going to the wrong bars.

I've been all over the world and most of them are the "wrong bars". Truthfully theres very few places where I felt clean, safe, and inclined to drink & enjoy myself.

I cant afford 30 dollar cocktail lounges, I'm not a lawyer.
Jaspers in St Maarten was nice but I'm not paying for a cruise just to hit the one cool, inexpensive bar I've ever visited.
Besides which Jasper could be long gone and maybe that place is shut down or run by assholes now.

- Alcohol intolerance. Literally, my body does not process alcohol like other people process alcohol. So I'm always the odd guy out of the party.

- er, lack of funds

- developing independent interests/not giving a fuck about the "scene"

Plants. No one's mentioned it before yet. Plants as in one or more of the girls may be undercover police/agents or a contractor working for them sent in there to hook up with me to infiltrate my life, if just to experiment with me...Well at least it gets points for originality?

I may go back to clubs someday because some of the girls are pretty. And that I can't resist for too many years. Currently I've got a great personal cave with the pc, two monitors & a big screen so I'm occupied for now.

When I found out girls are only attracted to alcoholic douchebags. I was so disappointed.

I lived near a college town and loved going to the "college bars" during the summer. They were ghost towns and the drink and food specials were dirt cheap. $2 burger baskets and $2 pints of "premium" beers.

2 things that I hated about them at night/during busy times.

1) Smoking. Hated coming home and smelling like an ashtray. Usually stripped down in the garage and left my close there overnight to air out you would smell that bad.

2) Absolutely blasting music. If I want bowel shaking loud music I'll go to a concert. Otherwise I want it subtle and in the background so I'm not shouting at the top of my lungs to converse with a person 2 feet from me. That's just not enjoyable.

IL & IA both made smoking in bars illegal now, so that removed #1. But I still avoid most places that fall into #2.

I still like going to small, intimate bars/pubs that have music at modest levels where you can easily talk to other people, play darts without coming away with a splitting headache, and just generally relax and have fun.

I've never been a club person. Just not my thing.

I've never enjoyed loud clubs or crowded bars. I like bars where we can get a table and actually hear each other talking

$9 beers and $10 mixed drinks are why I stopped.

It's ridiculous to charge $9 for a beer, when the six-pack costs around $7 (Budweiser).

that sucks. $4 beers around here, not bad. but this area sucks balls for bars/pubs all around.

I love bars, but am not a fan of clubs.

and this. some bars or pubs good, others terrible. all clubs = bad.

Went clubbing once. Got very buzzed, but not wasted. Proceeded to spend night babysitting drunk off his ass gay friend who decided to come out to me that night. Remembered every vivid detail including the men's room with piss all over the floor. No, thank you...

4. lechers. random guys trying to pickup anything with a pulse. normally I don't care, but when you try this with my GF I tend to get angry. If a women tells you to get lost then do it. Don't make me have to do it for you. I shouldn't have to waste my time dealing with your stupid ass.

So, you're saying your GF falls into the category of "anything with a pulse that only a lecher would hit on"??

Does she know how you feel about her??D:

Met my wife and realized she's 10x the lady any barfly wishes they were. No reason to go back into that cesspool.

Still go every chance I get, but that's mostly clubs. Not looking for a wife or something there though. I just love being around bright lights/dark corners/noise/crowds and my friends.

I love bars but don't like clubs. Most posters here are not out going so naturally most people here won't like going out to places where people go to interact with others. I don't go as much but still definitely enjoy the experience.

I find them both to be mostly full of loser's and immature types. Some go there and still think it's a popularity contest, acting like highschool kids in a cafeteria. It's funny in that you can look around into a HS and a Bar/club and see so many similarities. You can quickly pinpoint each stereotypical persona.
Some bars are quiet with a social aspect feeling more like you walked into a restaurant than a bar while some have some various type of overall mood to the room that almost seems contagious and many others where guys just like to go start shit with others. I stopped going in my mid 20's, just felt lame to me after a while.

Only drunks and idiots go to bars. This is my opinion and I am sticking to it. I also decided to quit drinking and had no purpose to go to a bar unless it was a tavern selling food.

Too much noise, I'm not a dancer, and I'm more of a relax on the patio with a beer kind of guy. I've never had a problem with bouncers, probably because I knew some of them and I never caused a scene.

That and I'm not the type to just randomly hook up, so there didn't seem to be much point. :p

I had a bit of an attitude problem back then.

I was also in great shape as well. I didn't take crap from anyone and had a very short fuse.

I didn't realize he was a bouncer. I thought he was just a random doucebag. The manager of the place offered me a job as doorman, but I turned it down.

Yeah. My point was, it sounds you like stopped going to bars to avoid people like...you.
