california is the worlds 5th largest economy. the next largest based on state is ny. and thats only 60% of cali. texas? hah! of course you didn't post about that since it can't compete obviously.

Inbred Hollywood idiots buying $500,000 car after car and making big sales because they are careless doesn't constitute an 'economy.'

Inbred because they only date, screw, and marry anyone in their little circle of 30 people. Oh wait marriage isn?t even real anymore, so it?s just date and screw.

Edit:

Sticking to topic, I still don't support the idea of the wealthy paying for everything, esp. considering how much of the population probably aren't even American citizens.

As much as I can't stand the whole Hollywood soap opera and hate CA, I am not a communist. If millions of people are willing to give their money to a bunch of adults that act like 3 year olds and can't even tie their own shoes or piss for themselves, that?s their choice. It is never the governments place to take money from one group of people and give to another by threat of force (even though it happens all the time).

Private property rights are essential for a free nation, and the government taking collective ownership from the wealthy to redistribute to the so called underprivileged is flat out Communism. Some may call it Socialism, but when you put power hungry democrats in governement positions to control a socialist society, it becomes Communism. Lets quit being politcally correct here and call it as it is.

If we abolished half the taxes and government sponsored breeding programs we have now, I guarantee that quite a few of these evil rich people will willingly donate and run charities for such things needed by the community. Especially in Hollywood, they need all the good publicity they can get!

We hand out enough free crap as it is to people who will never contribute to the economy. Want to solve the illegal immigration problem and the health care problem at the same time? Start by taking away the free lunch, and maybe the people that still want to come here will be the ones that want to WORK and want to become citizens. The rest are no better than locusts, consuming, and never giving back, destroying their environment and themselves.

Those evil rich people...

If half of the people on this board weren't spoon fed by rich parents (your typical child of liberal parents with a BMW at the age of 16 and a free college ride) and actually had to start their own wealth from nothing, they wouldn't be so quick to try to take it away from someone else.

Do we need the government to take by force? Just research how much money Bill Gates willing gives to charities and donations and stuff. The difference is he is enacting his own free will without infringing on others. You can argue he only does it for tax purposes. Well either way the money will go to the same things via government socialist programs, or donations, so who cares even if he WAS a greedy bastard and only did it to save on taxes? The difference is you eliminate the government as the middle man and lower taxes for everyone. The other difference is that one is called free enterprise, and the other is called communism.

For anything that anyone can come up with that the governemnt can do better and more efficiently than the private sector, I could research that topic and show how just how wrong you are.

If you want to blame Jlo and friends for being greedy, don't blame them. Blame the 200 million Americans (just a random number) that would rather spend $8 to waste 2 hours of their time watching a movie instead of donating to a charity or organization that could fix whatever problems they whine about. That's ultimately where the rich money comes from. Remember that next time you go out to a movie before you moan about how 'the government' needs to take care of this or that problem and expect a few people to foot the bill. If you want to help mentally ill people, then spend your $8 at a mental research facility instead of giving selling your choice to someone else who may not care.

Just remember that greedy actor (ceo, whatever) that doesn't want to have to pay more taxes and lives in a $10 million house, YOU BOUGHT IT FOR THEM! Would you rather they live in only $9 million dollar house instead so the mentally ill in CA can get better help? Stop going to 1 movie a week (or stop buying x amount of product y) and donate that money instead. It's as easy as that folks. Getting the government involved and taxing will not help. It is not the governments job, and it will only make things worse.

Cool. I didn't find that information when I searched, but I wasn't disputing that either. I was just disputing the part that Texas was the only state with its own grid. :) Makes me feel a little more secure if I wind up moving there, too. :p

Hmm I believe the question I failed to answer was how CA can have a large economy if I claim they are communists, when economic prosperity and communism usually don't run hand in hand.

Well, because they publicly support socialist and communist views (such as income redistribution, taxing the wealthy, etc) where they can gain the support of the uneducated lower class populace with illusions of equity and fairness, while embracing a completely different set of standards on the side in order to secure their own profit via capitalism. It is very possible one to be openly communist for everyone else but still reap the benefits of capitalism for oneself privately.

In other words, not only are they communists, they are also hypocrites.

You are committing the economic fallacy of selfish interest to support different economic policies depending on how it benefits you. This is verbatim straight from introductory economics.

That's quite the damnation of over 30 million people, many who know a lot more about econmomics than you and I and many who ever more on the Far Right lunatic fringe than you. I guess you only know what Newmax tells you or you'd understand that California has a large number of conservatives, millions more than reside in Arizona.

This Bill you and the other alarmists are crying about has yet to be voted on and passed. Maybe you should wait and see if it is passed before you start whinning about the sky falling in.

Politicians don't elect themselves into office; given CA's political record and the crazy legislation that manifests, I would say the majority of the populace supports the views I described as communism.

Though Arnold is a republican, who knows, maybe things can be turned around. (But the .50 cal ban is just stupid, what gang banger has $7,000 to blow on a 35 lb rifle to rob a 7-11 of $16? You guys should ban all those corvettes and Ferraris too, nobody needs those dangerous things; the speed limit is only 55!!) Arnold is heavily influenced by the ultra left of his wife and constituents. However that is a politician?s job to support his voters even if it?s against his own views (i.e.: representing the public). So again, I blame the population for petitioning, voting, and allowing such ridiculous legislation to pass in this poor excuse for a state.

Your right, we should wait and see what happens.

PS: Who/what is Newmax? I make my own conclusions based on observations and multiple sources, I don't just listen to propaganda. Large number of conservatives aside, you cannot argue that CA is not the most liberal and left state of the union (pun not intended)

I have some friends who lived in CA - even the cost of a LICENSE PLATE is amazing. They couldn't believe how cheap Ohio plates are in comparison.

Hmm thats why having riced out cars in AZ with CA plates seems to be so 'cool'

Just another status symbol, must be 733t if you have parents in CA that pay your bills ;)

Hehe no I don't think they deserve it and no its not fair, but I know better then to base economic policies on personal grudges. Besides brats like that are what give me the motivation to exceed both them AND their parents combined without a family fortune to fall back to, just out of pure vengeance :)

Well from living in Mass I can honestly say that it isn't. California is as big as the Eastern Seaboard, almost as populated and easily as diverse. Sure San Francisco and LA are liberal, but to say that Central CA and San Diego along with Orange County is also liberal is sheer ignorance. Also keep in mind that 3 out of the last 4 Governors elected were Republican and if the Republicans could find someone half decent to run against Boxer they might stand a chance of taking on the the Senate seats away from the Democrats there. Of course Closeted Republican Homos or Guys with big teeth and coiffed hair and not much more ain't going to do it and that seems to be the only types they can find to run against Boxer and Feinstein.

You mean to say that anti gun laws are specific to county or city and I can own hi cap mags in San Diego but not LA, or that if this bill passes it will only apply to LA and SF? I thought we were talking state level legislation here. It's not like San Diego and Orange County residents are not allowed to vote. This means that reguardless of conservative opposition, there is either still enough liberal majority in LA and SF to practically rule the state, or the conservatives are also voting liberal. It seems that the conservatives in CA are outnumbered and are packing up, so that tells me the former is the case.

Elaborate.

Inbred Hollywood idiots buying $500,000 car after car and making big sales because they are careless doesn't constitute an 'economy.'

Inbred because they only date, screw, and marry anyone in their little circle of 30 people. Oh wait marriage isn?t even real anymore, so it?s just date and screw.

tripe. our economy is so large it cannot be explained by a few hollywood celebrities:p course you know this already. your spite is just getting in the way of reason.

Good stuff comes from CA? Like what protestors, and rice cars with altezzas, and communis... I mean liberals?

thats right. before berkeley free speech on campus was not allowed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B...y_Free_Speech_Movement
even by conservatives:p

and good stuff? last i heard silicon valley isn't located in idaho.:p

Hmm I believe the question I failed to answer was how CA can have a large economy if I claim they are communists, when economic prosperity and communism usually don't run hand in hand.

Well, because they publicly support socialist and communist views where they can gain the support of the uneducated populace with illusions of equity and fairness, while embracing a completely different set of standards on the side in order to secure their own profit.

The only thing that is causing Californians to pack it up and leave is the over crowding which leads to a lessor quality of life, not the so called liberalism you alarmist Chicken Littles are harping about!
