Well, I had my KT7 and duron 600 running really stable at 113x9.0 (1017mhz) at 1.825 (1.88) volts and 3.6 IO voltage. It ran perfectly stable, well I wanted more, so I overclocked my Geforce, well it was already overclocked to 150core/210memory. So I downloaded powerstrip set the settings to 155core play unreal tournament for 30min or so, then I went back and set it to 160mhz core. Unreal tournament had gained 5-10fps in win2k this was great, then I go humm I wounder what my 3dmark2000 score will be, it freezes!

Everything runs perfectly stable but 3dmark 2000. If I put my geforce back to the normal settings 120/210 it doesn't freeze and if I put my cpu to 110x9 3dmark doesn't freeze. I'll all confused, then I go into win98se (I dual boot) I install powerstrip set it to 160/210 run Unreal Tournament everything works great, then I thought that something must be wrong with win2k, cus I ran 3dmark 2000 in win98se with my video card at 150/210 and the cpu at 113x9 and 3dmark 2000 did freeze.

Could of powerstrip fvcked up anything? Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

You can look at it this way, you play UT, not 3DMark2000. So who cares if it locks up. Or, since 3DMark2000 is locking up, your vid card just plain isn't stable at the speed you have it set at. I would play it safe and lower the OC on your vid card. To check to see if it's your proc or vid card, lower the FSB to 100 and see if 3DMark locks up.

JB-

I experienced a similar phenomenon with my V3-2000. At default clocking everything runs great at my highest overclock but when I overclock the vid card above a certain point, I too experience lock-ups with 3D Mark2000. Either dropping the overclock down to a lower value or easing off on the processor overclock brings it back to reliable operation. I suspect that the Win2K handling of the graphics may be a bit more efficient than W98 and with the higher stress on the graphics card, and faster I/O operation of the overclock I've discovered the point where instability shows up with my overclocked system. Perhaps you've encountered the limits of your hardware and simply need to keep in at clocking rates that don't freeze. 3DMark2000 stresses the graphics card as hard as it can be hit (or at least that's the intent) so any instabilities in your graphics card or its interface and handling by your CPU will show up there.

I always thought UT was much much more demanding them 3dmark2000. What I don't understand is that it was working before, do you think I could of screwed something up by setting the core to 160?

That's always possible, but I doubt it. Just keep lowering the speed until 3DMark2000 will run. Hell, you've got everything going fast enough as it is! :)

Who needs 3dmark 2000 though. If I leave it as it is, and every game I play runs great, would there be any danger in that?

I always thought that when you overclock you video card to high you get artifacts on your screen and not lock ups.

You don't just get artifacts. That is one of the signs, yes, but not the only one. Also, I think that comes more from overclocking your memory then the chip. If I were you, I would lower the speed some. Is 5 extra fps worth possibly having to buy a new vid card?

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Now it freezes when it's at the defualt speed!!! Is there another program that is just as instensive or even more then 3dmark? I want to see if its the program it's self that fvcked up cus ever other game I've tried works great. NOLF, UT, NFS 5.
