I havn't paid more then $3 for a USB cable in a long time & yes the cheap ones work just fine.

In fact I recall that Maximum PC tested the performance of USB cables shortly after the release of USB 2.0 ... they tested 5 or 6 cables ranging from an expensive/fancy Monster cable to an old USB 1.0 cable from "the back of the closet" & the performance difference was barely measurable.

Spending extra for "high-performance" USB cables is a waste of money.
