Why dont you call the superintendent back and explain that your wife was wrongfully yelled at over this situation in the exact detail you made in your post.......?
+1

And we'll be behind you like this

I'd be pissed off too. They better hope that her foot heals correctly...

And now your wife is being yelled at for calling them out? Fuck that, throw the book at them.

I agree with this and sorry to hear about your daughter, Waggy.

I'm not litigious person because I'm pissed off with having to spend a lot of my working life filling out paper work to cover my own ass, however in this case, the School deserves to be sued.

Sad. 🙁

I can understand you being pissed, that's pretty ridiculous. Hope she heals up quickly and you're able to get to the bottom of this.

ugh.

Wife is a buss driver for the school. the head of the school asked her why we called the Superindent. he yelled at her for a while. When asked why she called them she said she didn't that I did (wich is true) and he said i had no right to do taht.

He is also claiming the accident happened at lunch recess and he knew but thought she was faking it (even though other people said it happened on morning recess).

bah the jerk does nothing but give us the run around. I'm not looking to sue all i want is to know who fucked up and why it happened.

Ah! I'm not even related to the kid and that incident plus this one really really angers me. Its fucking idiotic administrators like this that continue to help fuck the system over. I would be so pissed if I were you I don't think I would be able to think straight

Frankly you have every right to talk the Superintendant (esp since I am guessing he was elected to the position) and the Principal has no right to tell you otherwise. I would be very vocal on the part where the Principal cannot tell me what I can and cannot do - especially when it's regarding his conduct

If I was in your situation and I had a kid, that teacher would have a black eye and I'd transfer to a different school.

He sounds like a real piece of work.

I can see the news story now: "7 year old breaks foot, spends five hours in classes, many of those crying, before receiving attention. Principal "thought she was faking it""

Has he apologized yet for how he handled this?

well i called her and left a voice mail. she called me back when i was in a store and left a voice mail. by the time i checked said voice mail she was gone for the weekend.

i have to wait until monday to call her back.

That's the thing. Your school system probably is managed a little better. As a parent, I've had my kids in ... let's see ... five now? Yes, I think five different school districts across three different states. Each district is very different in pretty much every facet of it. Where my kids go currently, I'm fairly certain the teachers don't give a shit about the kids and are just busy making their education quotas to meet state goals. Almost drone-like, as if the day would go on whether there are children in the seats or not.

The previous school district we moved from actually cared about the students, their education and their well being. The district before was a private school, so they were paid to give a shit. And before that was a public school, which was more concerned with making education the parents' problem.

Actually it is not that they don't give a shit rather it has all become a numbers game compliments of something that all you parents have been demanding: more money in education, especially Federal money. With that money comes strings, goals, and a whole host of No Child Left Behind testing and paperwork. The schools end up being forced to teach to the tests and if you could hear what the teachers think of that you would be surprised. They like it even less than you do but it is the reality they deal with. The administrators wall of paper the teachers to death with testing goals and strategies, progress reports ad infinitum all focused on that ever important month of May when the Standards of Learning testing begins that all the NCLB money flowing in is dependent upon the results of.

Call her at home. She is not exempt from putting in time on the weekend for an issue such as this. It's her job.

As far as people saying "sue the school", that's just a stupid call.

Sue the school for negligence and damages. This is what you do in the USA.

I actually think in this case, the persons involved (who did not inform the parents) would be liable for being stupid and not informing the parents when a kid gets hurt.

Thumbs up for the librarian (for doing her job). If you don't sue them, these retards will keep teaching/running the school.

Oh yeah, poor girl 🙁 . Hope she has a speedy recovery.

I bet if she was found carrying a butter knife the cops would have been called right away. Broken foot on the other hand wasnt a threat to anyone else so it was ignored. Hows that for messed up?

- to the people who moaned about "the pussification of America", you should be slapped with a wet trout...repeatedly. I'm sorry, but when a child's crying because they're in pain, you send them off to a medical professional for evaluation, and you don't get to decide on your own without any expertise "nah the kids obviously faking a broken bone" (esp. when it's later proven that it was in fact broken). It's the same reason why if there's suspected child abuse or other serious things (ie suicidal indications), you REPORT it and let the professionals sort it out.

coincidentally, here's a recent FML. I guess the lady was a wuss also?:

Today, I begged my husband to take me to the ER cause my stomach hurt so bad I thought I was gonna die. He told me to go sit on the toilet and stop being a drama queen. I drove myself to the hospital just in time for my appendix to burst. I almost died because my husband was busy playing xbox. FML

- also telling is not only that the daughter was untreated, but that the principal is claiming ignorance and also giving the parents the runaround. and apparently he's pissed off that waggy reported it to the superintendent. tough cookies, he's not mad because waggy did the right thing, he's mad that waggy isn't allowing him to hide his bad decision(s).

talked to 2 of the 5 (i think) members of the school board. 1 really didnt give a shit about the situation. he would only ask "what do you want me to do about it" well..to be honest i don't know.

2nd guy was the same but once i brought up cost he started grilling me if we were going ot try to put this on there insurance.

The schools super is claiming we only get insurance during school time IF we pay for it. i swear the extra insurance was for 24/7 covarage.

going to call teh county super monday. but i suspect i will get the same run around.

If i do then i will go to teh state. other then that i really don't know what to do.

IMO, there is a serious problem there. And it's that "head of the school". With that type of attitude I see no reason to hope for any improvement in the school's policy or their implementation of existing policy.

I think it terribly wrong of him to yell at your wife for a number of reasons. His claim that you have no "right" to speak with the superintendent is absurd and underscores the depth of the problem.
