It's the mtv music awards, a music channel that never actually plays music giving awards away to musicians who don't really play music. Really who the fuck cares but 13 year old girls?

haha, I think this is scripted, and just a play/parody on what he did a few years back when he didn't win an award (I think it was grammy's? forgot).
