REALLY HOT: 50% off Oral-B Electric Toothbrushes

alkemyst

No Lifer
I was told by by dentist to get an Oral-B or Rotadent due to my teeth building up calcium, so far at 40 have only had to have one small soft spot filled). I currently use a Braun that can take the oral-b refills, but it lacks a timer and I may be brushing too hard or soft keeping the brush from working correctly. The better models have a 2 min timer and auto-shut off/warnings when brushing too hard.

Anyway I am usually lucky when I need stuff so I came home searched for both and found this:
http://www.oralb.com/coupons/electric-toothbrush-coupon/

Until September 15th. Picked up a 5000 from Target for $152 shipped with tax after a 10% off coupon code and free shipping offered now.

I have had bad luck with Amazon on low priced items like bluetooth headsets and toothbrush refills. Can't believe they allow counterfeiters. So far I have had 3 fake motorola earpieces and one set of Oral-B refills that were terrible.

As far as I know any reseller is fair game though. I paid a $21 premium ordering from Target to be guaranteed I get an authentic model.

Edit: Inside the box are two $3 off coupons for refills and one $15 rebate for your next dental visit. Pretty nice extras.

HTH

yo alky - too much info... eeewww.... ;p

but there's a costco flavor of this... Can't quite make sense of the costco thing about the $15 off, it almost seems like they are saying that this and the rebate can't both be used... anyone else want to do a lawyerly reading of it and comment?

At my Costco I don't have that model, however; the Oral-B rebate forms are on the shelves along with the brushes.

AFAIK the only caveats are listed and being you are buying a Professional Series set, you should be entitled to the rebate. The $15 off is at the register so you don't forfeit your UPC or receipt for it. You'd probably be limited to 50% off the $84.99 price though...

Oral-B has pretty good customer service though so a phone call tomorrow should be in order to guarantee it.

Hmmm 50% off with lets say a CVS coupon or other store coupon?

Should be fine...you'd probably be limited to the price actually paid though...if you get extra bucks instead of a instant rebate that is the best of both worlds and you'd 99.9999% likely get a full 50% off.

It's like getting special promotions through a credit card. It's all behind the scenes and makes it easy to stack great deals.

I need to replace my Oral-B Sonic Complete, since the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore. Anyone know why Oral-B has gone to the little round brush heads, instead of the longer ones that look more like a normal toothbrush? It seems it would take a lot more work to brush your teeth with such a small brush.

For the record, my dentist actually recommends Oral-B over SonicCare.

How's it compare to SonicCare? I used to have a SonicCare a long time ago, but then the battery wouldn't hold a charge. Then I tried their replaceable battery version and it leaked.

It definitely seems like Oral-B has crammed a lot of technology into a toothbrush.

Yeah, I have the same issue. Have to keep the toothbrush in the charger now.

oralb actually has always had the small head... i've been using one for a loooong time, because the small head on the thing works well with my crooked teefers and so on...

they added the 'sonic' line more recently to try to suck up all the business...

LOL...

I read it as:

"Picked up 5000 from Target for $152 shipped with tax after a 10% off coupon code and free shipping offered now."

I was like...

"Holy....that is the best deal of the year!"

Can't compare, but my wife and I got the costco version of oralb and have had them for 6 months and they seem to be doing well. Better than the $20 electric brushes I used to use.

In the past 12 months, I've purchased two "5000 series" from Amazon @ ~ $110 each. Both have performed flawlessly and are appreciated by family members.

Amazon is listed as a participating retailer and currently has two offers at $121 and $123 with free two day shipping for Amazon Prime customers. Pretty good deal with 50% rebate.

Oral B website states: "Participating online retailers will provide a printable rebate form with purchase". You may want to double check that point.

The brushes work great and we particularly like the timer feature.

I've been using Oral-B Triumph Professional Care 9000 for about 5-6 years now. It's always had the little round brush heads. I love the device. It gets me to brush for the full 2 minutes and it cleans much better than compared to regular manual toothbrush. I got the unit for free. Helps when you have dentist and hygienist in the family. 🙂

Thanks for the update.

I've been monitoring the prices on Amazon for the past week or so. For those who are interested, the 4000 is currently $90 (or $45AR) and the 5000 is currently $110 (or $55AR). Both dropped another $4 a few days ago and then went back up to the round numbers they're at now.

When your dentist cleans your teeth (or hygenist) they are using a round tool also.

The Rotadent is round as well and a pro-level brush (the oral-b gets better marks though).

A smaller round brush allow you to target each tooth better.

Thanks for the info. That makes a lot of sense. I guess I was just used to toothbrushes having that familiar toothbrush shape.

Actually, since I posted that question, I convinced my girlfriend to buy the 3000 model ($60, or $30AR). She didn't love it at first but she's getting used to it. She came from a Soniccare and says this new one is much louder (that's obvious to me listening to it), and is also a little rougher on her teeth (the brush is moving more/faster, I think). She says it does clean her teeth better than the Soniccare, but isn't as pleasant to use. Just her two cents, I guess.

I think I'm going to go for the 5000 sometime next month. The rebate is good through 9/15/11. By the way, the 5000 is actually $107 right now at Amazon with a special coupon on the product page: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER. I know the OP was concerned about counterfeit products at Amazon, so I read up on it, and it seems that only affects the brush heads. While that's pretty bad, it won't stop me from buying the brush there.

You're in luck, the batteries can (fairly easily) be replaced for about $10. Did that to mine and it works like new again.

Wow, thanks for the link...that is indeed the toothbrush model I have. But my soldering days are long behind me (retired along with my RC cars), so I think I'll settle for buying a new one. At $45-55, it's really a pretty good deal.

For those of you not up to date on the latest prices, Amazon now has the 4000 model for $84 after coupon (on the product page). After rebate that's $42. Hard to argue with that.

Wiki said:
Independent research finds that although most electric toothbrushes are no more effective than manual brushes— assuming that people using a manual toothbrush will brush effectively—The rotation-oscillation-models have been found to be marginally better than manual ones. The research concludes that the way brushing is done is more important than the choice of brush.

FYI

As a lazy person, an electric toothbrush is far more effective than a manual brush.

I had one of the nicer models and lost it during a wedding trip. Haven't bothered to replace it yet, but with a 50% rebate I think I have no choice.
