As has been discussed a thousand times before: Do NOT upgrade your system for a game that isnt out yet.

For the beta, and according to this:

http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_pages/starcraft_ii_wings_of_liberty_beta_performance,4.html

For solid 60 FPS 1080p (max settings, no aa/af):
You need at least a 4890 1GB for a minimum of 61 FPS and average 67 FPS.

Lowest tested was around 30 FPS 1680x1050 (max settings, no aa/af):
A 5570 1GB did minimum 28 FPS and average 31 FPS.

i've been out of gaming for a while.
60fps is now the ultimate goal, and no longer 30fps?

This is starcraft 2, you give that game whatever it needs, it deserves it! :)

For a reference point ive got everything maxed at 1920x1080 and the beta runs smoothly in 2v2's, havent had the chance to test in a 4v4 yet though, i assume it will still run smoothly. Its the gaming rig in my sig im using.

Blizzard does a very good job of coding its games so that it scales well across a variety of setups. SC2 really doesn't take a whole lot to run really. I don't know what my fps is in this game but I haven't seen a stutter in 1v1 or 2v2s, haven't tried 4v4s as of yet. My setup is:

C2D E7400
8GB RAM
4870 (manufacturer overclock, Asus DK TOP) 512MB

Running it at 1920x1080 with everything cranked to max.

I agree, the scaling is very nice.

It plays fine on my MBP with 9400M at all low. It also plays fine on my GTX 260 at all Ultra.

It runs at 30-35fps at medium settings on the following:

Core i5 750
4GB RAM
4550 512MB

All of the processor intensive settings are as high as they go. I didn't build this computer for gaming but 30fps is plenty for my level of play.

edit: Oh yeah, I should mention I play at 1680x1050.

I have two friends that play it. Both of them are running E5200s and 9600GSOs. One of them is running at stock speeds, at 1280x1024, and one of them is running OCed to 3.625Ghz and a slight overclock on the video card, at 1920x1200.

I haven't directly observed the computer at stock running that game, but the overclocked rig seems to handle it just fine.

What i like is how the commercial/movie almost seems to dismiss its RTS basis. If you wanted to play a game that looks like the commercial/movie you would need some seriously beefy graphics processing capabilities. I mean, its an RTS for christs sake.

You're all freakin kidding yourselves..

IF YOU WANT some solid 60fps like we're used to in SC 1, we're talking i7 at 4.5ghz+

I hope they do some final optimization to the code before launch, and hopefully patch it for extra performance. BUT as issssss ,, this game is daunting.

wtf are you smoking, seriously.

at 2500x1600 at ultra, I was getting 101fps average with a 3.8 i7 and a 260gtx. Over the course of the beta I have only had 1 slowdown and thats from having 400 banelings blow up all at once (I was bored).
