The real Iran

Many people have posted pictures of Iran to "dispel the myth" that Iran is a backwards country with people who need to be "liberated". They then proceed to perpetuate that myth with pictures of goats and barns and other B.S.

I won't do that here. The fact of the matter is that a majority of Iranians live at least as well as Americans. Iran is a first world country which aside from mandating women wear a head scarf (and men not walk around half naked), actually allows people to live their lives as they wish with far less interference than in America. That's the real truth about Iran, and the following pictures PROVE IT.

That reminds me. I used to work in a small burger joint with the owner's brother, Hamid. Hamid and his family escaped Iran during the Iran/Iraq war. Hamid absolutely HATED Saddam Hussein. He would go in the freezer and smoke week, then come out and make Jamaican jerk chicken for himself on the grill.

Hamid helped me to understand Iran when I was a teenager. He clearly had some kind of PTSD now that I think back on it, but he was an awesome guy to work with. Wish I'd stayed in touch.

Wasn't the election rigged? And even if not, don't the religious clerics "vet" any potential political candidates, culling out any one who might have intentions to reform things? So yeah. Once a society has a governing system in place that is able to perpetuate itself, it is definitely possible for a minority to rule over a majority.
 
Most people don't have issues with the people of other nations... it's the politics of it all.

Iran is a beautiful country. So is the United States. So are most countries, with the exception of those that are ravaged by war and warlords. There are very few countries that I wouldn't mind visiting.

The cool thing about Iran (from a historical perspective) was the confluence of Indo-European and Semitic peoples. So you have people that look European, south Asian, or even Semitic (incl. Jewish).

yes, it was rigged. that's what the entire two months of nonstop protests in the streets of iran and the green movement were all about. the people of iran were cheated and they wanted their votes to be counted.

the pictures are nice but that's guy's text is atrocious. doesn't do you any good to insult the people you're appealing to, lie about CNN, etc. tehran may be a rather cosmopolitan jewel of a city, but the guy's not realistic about the actions of the government.

These aren't real Iranians since many of them are covered up and ugly, as well there are many honor killings, women beatings and gay executions

actually, it kinda is. persians don't care whether or not someone's jewish. they do, however, think zionism is a load of bullshit and unfair. israel is favored over every other country in the middle east because of zionism, regardless whether israel is in the wrong or not.

that's the only problem iranians have with israel... they get unfair treatment.

they certainly don't wanna see it wiped off the face of the map, though. they just want the west to be more fair in its dealings with the middle east.
