Real is suck

Wow, I can understand not wanting to go out of business and all but this is crazy. I go to download RealPlayer because I want to see a clip that only supports Real. First of I have to search for almost 5 minutes to find the free player. Then, it uses it's own downloader where you have to sit through a bunch of ads. Then when it installs, it trys to spam up your machine with all this crappy software (hello, I just wanted RealPlayer). Once it is installed, I have to drill through option after option to disable all the spam applets it put on my system, also delete icons from the desktop, start menu, etc. I also have to disable the tray icons. Then when I finally get it up and running, half the screen is spam ads.

Not for nothin', but when they go out of business, I am going to be the first to laugh. Four letters, D-I-V-X, eat it Real.

Um...how is divx competition for Real? if you want competition for Real look at Quicktime or Windows Media.

BTW, you can turn off all the spam on the player itself...just switch to Compact View.

Ugh, I uninstalled that sh!te yesterday. It gave me a message saying that WinAmp was trying to become the default player for some file types, but that it (Real) was preserving them, and wanted to show me how to stop WINAMP from doing what it was doing.

I know I could have disabled it, but I said screw it, I can live without anything that comes in real format. Bleh.

Word. Always do a custom installation on those proggies and don't give them ANY file association rights EXCEPT the RMA or what ever the format is that that crappy program uses. As soon as it installs, right click on the icon in your systray and disable the start center as well. It's the biggest waste of system resources and systray space (too many icons on those things to begin with).

Real is a piece of crap. A couple of months ago I deleted it's bloated sh*t for the last time and decided that anything that runs only under Real is not worth watching.

yup, real sucks. All the crapware and spam isnt worth the 2 movies youre ever gonna watch on it. Quicktime alll the way

I love Quicktime, because it doesn't install a bunch of crap, is rather small and stylish looking with no ads...

Real on the other hand, really blows, plus the video quality is horrible...

I keep it because half of my 30+ Family Guy episodes are in Real format.

BTW Quicktime owns ass. Windows Media sucks just like Real. I hate ASF and all those half-assed file formats.

Real just needs to die :disgust:

I hated that program the first time I installed it back on my Celeron 400. It INFESTS your system and sucks up your resources.

I actually have it installed right now, but I have gotten it to the point where it won't open unless I tell it to.

I too will laugh when real finally kicks the bucket. In fact, I'll do a little happy dance around my PC when it does!

You disable it in the start menu and the next time some joker post a link to a real file, there it is back at the next reboot.

doesn't NE1 want to see real survive b/c its the almost the only competetion for MS (besides quicktime) in the streamin media software catagory?

OK, it took me and my friend an hour to find it on their stupid fcking page. I hate that company more then anything. My Mp3 player came with RealJukeBox installed.... omfg. Every other time I loaded stuff onto the player the program just froze its crappy arse... OMG then it was giving me all this shiat about trying to uninstall it. I went into the registry after I finally got it off and guess what... like an entire 1/2 of a tree was still realplayer stuff. I hate that company more then Microsoft and AOL combined.

If I could find all the episodes of Space Ghost in avi/mpg format, then I would dump real. Until that time comes, I must use one of the worst players ever...

Real Player is the worst. I am so pissed when there is a clip I want to see, but it is only offered in Real format. I wait till I go to a friends house to watch it.

I refuse to install RealPlayer. I HATE it. I'll borrow someone else's machine if I have to watch a realplayer file. I HATE IT.

I don't care how many bowling balls an Oreck can pick up, REAL SUCKS MORE! :|

My method for dealing with RealMedia clips:

1. Make a new VMware virtual machine. Install Win95C on it.
2. Install Real Player.
3. Watch clip.
4. Destroy virtual machine.
5. Wash hands.

Actually, this is one instance where I am happy to see Microsoft destroy a company. Anyway, Real was founded by a bunch of greedy people who left MS to own the streaming media market.
