Czech absynth isn't "real" absynth. I'm told Czech-made is the WORST and doesn't even make you hallucinate.

The wormwood is what makes you "halucinate" and what we bought had 3% which is the highest legally alllowed

I thought there was no real scientific basis for any supposed hallucinations caused by absinthe.

Hence why i put it in quotes. We bought sebor from www.seborabsinthe.com

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absinthe#Modern_revival

A faux-absinthe liquor called Absente, made with southern wormwood (Artemisia abrotanum) instead of grande wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), is sold legally in the United States and does not contain Grande Wormwood. This was the first US approval referring to "absinthe" on the front label; the front label says "Absinthe Refined" but TTB classified the product as Liqueur.

i have a bottle of Absente. it's typical of what's available in the states, 55% alcohol and 45% rubbish. as the Czech products are somewhat sketchy, i would hold out for a French product made with grande wormwood. i have doubts concerning the effect of thujone, but i want to try the drink as it was intended.

I'll buy it if it makes me see shit, not if it makes me drunk. (seeing shit and drunk is acceptable)

ABSINTHE WILL NOT MAKE YOU HALLUCINATE

glad someone figured out how to sell it in the States because i don't think any laws have changed

if i come across it and its not through the roof $ wise i'll try it as well. could be an awesome stocking stuffer as it isnt like vodka where every house hold has a bottle or 2

does the non-real absinthe taste anything remotely similar to real absinthe? I ask this, because before paying an insane amount of 'real' absinthe, just to see what it feels like after drinking some, I'd prefer to know if I can handle the taste.

Ahh....now I know exactly what to get my two best friends who are getting married this Saturday. I don't suppose this means the stuff is available at the local ABC shop huh?

then WTF bother lol

what that article doesn't mention about the Swiss ban is that the farmer who murdered his family had one glass of absinthe....on top of the multiple bottles of wine and whiskey that he had consumed.

The Swiss had a temperance movement going on at the time, but wine was too important of an industry. Along come psycho raging drunk farmer, and away goes absinthe.

$60 for a 750ml bottle
looks like my options are New york, New Jersey and Texas
most likely only pour 2 glasses and then save the rest for some kind of "special occasion"
