Shades of Grey - Jasper Fforde. So far it's a bit of a slog compared to his Thursday Next and Jack Spratt novels, and it lays on the whimsy a bit thick for my tastes.

Just finished The Way Of Kings -Brandon Sanderson which was hefty but as the first book in a ten book series it was a good start
