I've been following this thread since last Sunday. I called Above-All Monday morning but it was before the store opened. Called again about 10 a.m. and the cards were all gone. Talked to the guy and he said they get ATI cards all the time, but it is hit and miss as to what and when......
I went to the store on Thursday. They had a box of ATI cards marked as 64 mb Rage 128's. The sticker on the fan said "Rage 128 Pro". The cards only had the standard VGA and DVI connectors. The cards were $79.95 a piece and came with outdated driver disks. I bought 2 as I am setting up a coupla new systems and figured I couldn't go wrong with that price for 64 mb cards.
Saturday began as a nightmare when I attempted to install/configure one of the cards. BIOS part number was 113-00000-00 or something to that effect. I downloaded and attempted to install the Rage 128 drivers..... message box said I didn't have the right hardware for these drivers.....
Out of frustration downloaded and attempted to install Radeon drivers... SUCCESS !!!
Turns out that the cards are early Radeons with 64 mb DDR memory all mounted on the front side of the board. Card is running at 143/143 default. Used PowerStrip to up the speed and encountered video anomalies above 183/183 during benchmark testing. Been running at 175/175 for about 8 hours without any noticeable problems.
OPINION: these cards may be a very good card given the price, but be forewarned that they probably won't be able to compete with the production versions. If someone is looking for a card that matches the performance that they have read about, these cards are probably not ideal.
