Only because cashiers these days are bitc#es and can't count change without NCR's wonderful machines helping them out.

All those who use check please stand up !

You know that majority of check users are women, right ?
Those with the big bag with god knows what inside, rummaging for their check, then pen, then slowwwwwwly write the amount.
Then more rummaging for ID or DL, arghhhh.

Our ice cream has melted away

In reality, it takes what, 30 - 60 seconds to wait for someone writing a check?
Are you really in that big of hurry?

You seem to be forgetting;

60 seconds to write the check
60 seconds to fumble around in their purse looking for their licence
30-45 seconds for the cashier to copy down their licence
15 seconds while the check is verified and printed in the machine

and YES, i am in a hurry.

I think I'll move to Gainesville, FL and make a life of wandering from store to store, writing checks as slowly as humanly possible.

Clerks hate checks but store owners love them because they are traceable cash and cannot be stolen by an employee. They are also a second record of sale. The store eats the transaction fee on check card purchases (usually a $1.50 just like at an ATM) and they pay interest on YOUR credit card purchases. Owners love checks - clerks hate em.

You forgot the 30 seconds they stand there with that dumb look on there face when the cashier tells them the amount and they realize that they should get the checkbook out of their purse.

I always write checks.

But i have been writing checks for so long i start getting it done while the person is checking me out Or i have them fill it out (the register can do it).

on a side note my local wal-mart is re-modeling. they are putting in one of those self-checkouts! wohoo!

The address is correct and the license number is on the check.
Wait your turn , or get up earlier.
Either way, get off my back....
Writing a check doesn't incur a fee for me to spend my money, whereas a terminal fee will most probably apply if I used the bank card.
Want to give me the money for the fees? Didn't think so....

Only an old fool would take that long to write a check. It could easily take that same person nearly that much time to find their check card.

And why exactly are you in such a hurry?

That's courteous of you. The checkwriters that suck are the ones who don't even pull out the checkbook until the cashier gives them the total :|

Yes I write out CHECKS!! Yes I am female!!

No! I do not fumble around in my handbag for anything - I keep everything organized and know where everything is located.

I write it out and sign while the slow @ss employee slowly but surely rings up and jabbers to his/her friends next to them.

My DL# is already on the check and if they take the darn thing instead of shooting the bull YOU would not have to wait in line so long.

May you be bless the next time you go shopping by having to stand behind people with government assistance checks!! :D

Check Cards are evil!! :p

LOL! I can sympathize. Without fail, whenever I'm in a hurry...I get stuck behind a checkwriter in the checkout line.

Those of you that write checks...what is your reason for using checks instead of your check card? I'm curious.
