Seems I completely forgot about Altair, which has not yet been used as a GPU codename by AMD, so that could be AT too.

So far I have Altair, Antares and Amethyst as possible codenames.

Anyone else want to chime in?
Could be Alpha Tauri too

@Kepler_L2 So is Sirius looking like the codename for CDNA5/GFX1250 now then?
Sirius is more likely MI500.
MI400 already has some codename leaks and it is an RDNA4 derivative, though this was 2 years ago and was leaked along with canned RDNA4 parts so it has probably been redefined since.

So if AT2 is shared between 10070xt & xbox next then it could have a really long shelf life 🤔

CONFIRMED — Speculation no more !!

MAGNUS is the replacement to ARDEN

Not too different from now, RDNA2/3 are still on sale.

Plus if Xbox is just using dGPU GCDs they can release a new console every 2 years
Yeah the pro could be released after 4 years with RDNA 6/7

I would expect the AT2 to be on sale for 4 years

Not quite so trivial as that.

Not unless they want to abandon the advantages consoles have typically had over the PC platform for a given spec.

By using a more limited hw spec game devs can optimise performance in pre compiled shaders and assets tailored to fit.

Even a mid cycle refresh is adding significantly more required effort to supporting each platform.

Abandoning the current regime would probably end up with even less devs wanting to go with MS without being bought into it.

If there is no strix halo laptop / tablet then there is no use case for a strix halo like medusa halo

AMD might as well replace the 192 bit 72 CU AT2 in magnus with a 128 bit 48 CU AT3 & call it a day 🤔🤔

It would be very easy for AMD to make a "mini-magnus" with AT3 instead of AT2

but instead of being a semi-custom APU like it's big brother, this could act as the successor to strix halo (with exclusion of tablets/laptops)

Strix-halo and Medusa-halo are contingent on piles of LPDDR.

This would mean an end of the typical fixed target spec on a console throughout 6-8 years that devs have been accustomed to.

It'll just become a windows PC.

Plus -
1. Unified memory cuts on unnecessary copying - that's big
2. Hardware decompressors for assets
3. Would copy protection even work?

Essentially in this model new "console" Xbox will get choppy PC ports, it's probably be easier for devs to just do PC version, if they bother.

The chart MLID showed must be quite old at this point I presume? What are the odds that AMD decided to play it safe again and go for AT1 and AT3 aka the logical successors for Navi 48 and 44?

AT1, AT2, AT3 like chips was the initial roadmap leaked long ago

AT0 was nowhere in the plans. It seems new based on AI craze

AT0 might also be used for game streaming services. Maybe also for Xbox game streaming?

Pack 6x AT0 together with a 96C Zen 6 EPYC CPU and you get pretty dense and fast game streaming servers (12 instances with 6 CPU cores and a halved AT0 per server). If gaming does not fly or is underutilized, you can still reuse them for some cloud Compute/ML/AI services.
