Denying a sitting President his Constitutional right to appoint AND have a vote to confirm a Supreme Court Justice who died 9 months before an election and almost a year before inauguration, is in NO way comparable to a haircut, of a Congressperson.

This could possibly give Trump the push he needs, I can't count how many people I have heard say they only voted for Trump because of the SC pick.

The SCOTUS has long been the GOP unicorn to activist-judge themselves into sending this country back two thousand years of progress and pure white hegemony, and that was all Trump ever was to the people that held their noses for him. Trump gave them that, 90+ federal seats unethically blocked by Mitch the Bitch during 8 years of Obama gave them more of that.

GOP voters don't have a thinking brain. They have an emotional one. This is literally all it will take.

And 2 - Moscow Mitch totally ignoring his stance in 2015 and attempt to ram it through. Will there be enough GOP to stop this?

collins might see it as a way to keep her seat to delay any confirmation until after the election results come in. of course, that doesn't mean she won't furrow her brow and dutifully vote for whatever 25 year old white supremacist 8channer trump nominates.
 
I read a comment on reddit saying if the Republicans have genuine concern the Democrats will control both houses of Congress and the Presidency, which from what I have read, they do. They could leverage the threat of increasing the court's size and tilting it back their way by one if they put someone in.

The thought that they will wait till after the election at least makes sense. I doubt they would ever abolish abortion thinking on this situation and its implications. It's such a juicy red meat issue for the religious ideologues, they couldn't find a better one. Better to always be dangling that carrot, rather than ever let those voters catch it. They literally have to do nothing else for those voters, fuck them over, tax cuts for the uber rich etc. So long as they pretend to care about the 'unborn' they are golden.
