One thing that I noticed, when switching between 100Hz and 200Hz for the PS/2 port rate with my trackpoint, the mouse cursor moved a bit faster with 100Hz than 200Hz. That makes sense, especially if you have accelleration enabled, because at 100Hz, it will return higher "mickey" counts than at 200Hz, and the numbers at 200Hz might not be high enough to trigger any accelleration-curve changes. Also, I have no way of verifying 100% that the device actually could properly handle a 200Hz rate, so possibly it was having other problems. While it didn't move the cursor as fast, it did seem to be slightly smoother at 200Hz though.

I'm going to have to get a Razor mouse to try out for myself, I've been wanting a high-DPI/scan-rate mouse to mess with for some time now. Too bad there isn't some way to "overclock" a regular generic USB mouse, somehow. Hmm.

I use it with usb patch, 500 Hz under win2k and seems it moves slightly faster in comparison with 124 Hz, with accel disabled under razer cp and windows cp.
Btw VirtualLarry knowing that you are big fan of PS/s, just want to say, this mouse dont work in PS/2 port.

The Razer Diamondback does take awhile to get use too,it`s excellent after that, only two minor problems I had was on cold boot-up sometimes my DB would not turn on,had to unplug then reconnect it to my PC USB port for it to come alive(no big deal really) and the second thing was I find the side button on the left side a little further back then what I would like, but I `m now use to it,looking at the mouse they could of added another button underneath the side ones.

Overall it`s very responsive and no real complaints, any gamer should be happy with it.

Can you recap for a Razer newbie the following things:

1) Diamondback with latest drives can be completely acceleration disabled (acceleration & negative acceleration)?

2) Diamonback with lowest in-game sensitivity settings and low-to-mid driver sensitivity settings is NOT hyper-sensitive to movement (I mean the overall amount of distance you have to move the mouse to get the cursor move a few inches on screen? I'm a overall low sensitivy player myself)?

3) The above can be done (low sensitivity) without losing the accuracy of the mouse?

4) there are no jerking/self-noise movements from the mouse (mx300 & mx500 had this problem, not mx510 though): i.e. the cursors moves a pixel or two back and forth by itself, when nobody is touching the mouse?

5) Diamondback with USB at 500Hz does not cause huge amounts of CPU utilisation when the mouse cursor (not a window, but just the mouse cursor) is moved around the screen?

6) All buttons (which can be reached with fingers) are functional in all games and there are no "doesn't work in Game X" or "use patch Y or trick Z to overcome button problem in Game X" situations (like there are with Logitech mouse buttons/drivers)?

7) Stable mouse drivers: no crashes, oddities or weird things happening in general?

I'm really tempted to switch from MX510 to Diamondback, but having tried over a couple of dozen mice in my lifetime, I'd rather not buy another 70 USD disappointment :)

In short to first 6 - Yes, to 7 - Nope, if game dont support 7 buttons mouse, buttons 6 and 7 (lower left and right buttons) cant be used.

I've seen a few reviews and comments from other individuals and it seems while the technicals are great, the ergonomics are lacking, especially for people with large hands who end up gripping the mouse instead of resting on it, creating hand fatigue.

Since my hands are XL+ size, I decided on the MX510 instead.

I`ve no tracking issues, speed is excellent and my sensitivity is set at 4.5/10.
I`m also using the latest Razer driver with no USB tweaks(don`t need it with this mouse).

Note this mouse is USB only.

Well i dont understand toms hardware they say that 1600 dpi is so fast but i have acceleration disabled in windows and driver and its even not enough fast especially in fps games. I mean for example in CS:S in 1024x768 you have to have in game sensitivity on 5 to be at least middle sens player...

Also they say it bad for photo editing only for fps games what a bs. just disable acceleration and use on-the-fly sensitivity control when you need lower speed. Mouse responds best.
