You're not allowed to say that type of stuff though. Suggesting that a women is capable of causing someone to hit them is the same as saying because she was wearing a mini skirt she was asking to be raped. It doesn't matter that she assaulted him first, he hit a girl and that is bad! Equality be damned!

I still think it is funny that Ray Lewis was on trial for murder and the Ravens stood behind him 100%... Beat your wife though? Cut!

Not only that but Ray Rice will have a cleaner record than Ray Lewis after 1 year as well.

Maybe the ravens don't want the years of questions like that had to deal with in Ray Lewis's case?

I am pretty sure everyone forgot about that pretty quickly. He did win Superbowl MVP that season.

I think the point here is though, he's a very large NFLer, and she's a much smaller woman, with out any deadly weapons. What, she going to slap him to death? Uhhh no. He is big enough and strong enough to wear any punches/slaps she has, and subdue her with a big bear hug or something less... Fist-like.

I get the hypocrisy that's going on here, but he deserved to be let go. Most normal jobs would let you go if you were arrested for domestic violence.

He is a large NFLer? Last I checked, Ray Rice qualifies under Manlet status. He is 5'8, 199. He is below average height for a male in the US.

And, I do think he was a bit excessive in his retaliation, and even that is sexist. Had this been a male, and not his wife, nobody would be batting an eye. "Oh, a small guy is assaulted Ray Rice, what a fucking idiot," is about the responses I'd expect. But, since this was a women, we get the "omg! burn him!" garbage as if he was some kind of predator.

There is no hypocrisy at all, don't even try to defend the absolute pigshit that's being spouted by smackababy. Ray Rice spits on his wife (which is already disgusting) and she lightly hits him on the shoulder with an open hand like a girlfriend does when she gets pissed at her boyfriend. Then, in the elevator, Rice spits on his wife again, she raises her arms up, and then Rice slaps her in the face. She takes a step forward with her arms up and Rice knocks her out cold. That's not defensible at any point whether that's a man or woman, but it's especially morally disgusting when you do it to your spouse

If you think you know more about those contracts, feel free to attempt to expound upon how I am incorrect.

My mom used to say that when a woman hits you, she's no longer acting like a lady and is fair game to be hit back. Doesn't matter if you are 100 lbs or 500 lbs, if a woman hits someone, then its fair game to hit her back. She hit him twice, was going after him again, and he knocks her down. Guess she won't be hitting him again? Of course, we don't know if he hit her first. Being spit on is pretty bad, but its definitely not being hit.

agree 100%.

if everybody was: "i won't be the first person to hit", then there won't be any hitting.

*IF* she was the first one to start violence, then she deserved it. just because one is small doesn't give them any right to violence. although i agree this type of argument won't stand in a court and that is a shame.

also, never fight a losing battle/war. wait till some other people are around. lol.

I meant just in general, he is large by default because he is an NFL running back. His legs are the size of small trees.

I agree, it's kind of a double standard but it's really the only situation he would not be losing his job over (another grown man hitting him). Any woman, any child, and any geriatric, would receive the same amount of shit thrown at him. So really, it's kind of hypocritical and sexist when men beat up other men, seeing as any other type of person would land them in doo-doo.

Uncontrollable rage is very destructive to people's lives.... so people vilify it. Hard to disagree TBH. Ravens is just buffering themselves.

Looks like the 2012 champs will be fail this year. Rice is an amazing RB.

He should just consider himself lucky he wasn't white. A white man punching a black girl would have caused the world to 'asplode.

Here's the sequence of events as I saw it.

1. She lightly backhands him outside the elevator.
2. They get in the elevator.
3. Smack is probably talked in both directions.
4. He lightly punches her in the face.
5. She comes at him, but yelling, not with fists to his face or car keys to his eyes.
6. He knocks her out.
7. He can't be bothered to drag her completely out of the elevator, leaving her feet and then her hair at risk of being caught in the doors.

Am I missing anything?

ROFLMAO!!!

Dude, you're so clueless on this that you're akin to some numbskull standing on a streetcorner screaming that there is no such thing as gravity and that things fall to the earth because of in international Zionist Illuminati conspiracy. Nobody needs to do the math on gravity the laugh at somebody like that and we don't need to dissect the legalese in NFL contracts to laugh at you. Most of the money in most NFL contracts is not guaranteed, that's why when a player signs an NFL contract two different figures are reported: the contract value and the smaller guaranteed portion of the much larger amount.

Was there video of what Lewis allegedly did?

I don't really think there's that much of a double standard. Rice clearly has the physical ability to knock out his wife. I doubt she has the physical ability to do the same to him.

And yet none of the leagues has language within the basic requirements for contracts that differ in any appreciable matters on what monies must be guaranteed.

So what type of dumbfuck does that make you?

Coming off a 660 rushing yard season, and all the locker room and media headache surrounding him for any future team that wants to sign him? Nope not happening. Even if the NFL decides to reinstate him, nobody is touching that, not for someone who got 660 yards last season.

Only very special RB's can maintain high performance past their first 6-7 seasons, he is already on his 7th, and averaged 3.1 yards last year for 660 yards. Sayonara.

The dude is scum and deserved to be fired.

What is really scary is his lack of concern after she is out laying on the ground.

Oh, you must have missed what caused Stephen A Smith to be fired. He said something similar, without condoning Rice, to the effect of "Women, be careful, because while we (other males in their lives) will protect you, you can do something to cause a man to hit you." And, someone fucking idiot female blogger responds with the same rape analogy.

No despite my objection to the excessive reaction to Ray Rice I am wondering how you even connected that to women deserved to be raped just because of any clothing they are or are not wearing.

Guess I will just post the same thing I said earlier somewhere else.

Meh. Does it actually look like some type of unequal relationship to you? In that incident he just had way more power than neccessary. Probably was some type of instinct punch back. He probably did not want to knock her out. Did you see him keep hitting her when she was on the floor? Nope.

Not suggesting he is not at fault for anything but there are far more worse shit that NFL players do every month and continue to do. She woke up from this. The mental and emotional devastation because of long term domestic abuse are far worse than one physical incident. She still decided to marry him after all of this. What is known about their relationship overall compared to this one incident?
