I have a bootleg from Love Parade...Seb Fontaine is absolutely awesome.
As for me...I just went to "Together As One" for New Years Eve in Los Angeles (allegedly the biggest rave ever held in the U.S.) and it was friggin awesome. BT, Christopher Lawrence, Donald Glaude, Aphrodite, Ron D. Core, and my favorite set of the night, Sandra Collins. She was amazing to watch, total crowd control...damn she spins good sh*t. Damn...that was the tightest party I've ever been to.
So basically...raves = cool.

PS: About the old age thing...I saw at least 5 dudes over 40 there and one guy looked like he was around 80...that was strange...but he was into it so it was cool.
Shiz.

I wasn't too impressed with Sandra Collins on "Tranceport 3", but then again...

You should've taken a MiniDisc recorder with you at the party!

after reading everyones opinion, here is mine.

Ive been raving for awhile and don't really go anymore(lack of money, the people, lack of friends who like dnb), and i got to say that it is both a good thing and a bad thing.

The ONLY reason i go to a rave is to listen to drum n'bass on nice loud speakers, and to dance a lil bit, although im not too into the dancing. There is no other place where u can listen to dnb that loud and clean, and it gives me a chance to hear new tracks and good mixing. all my favorite artists or local dj's only play at raves, so i have no choice but to go to a rave to listen to that kind of music. I have never touched X, and i never intend to.

i don't consider myself a raver(i don't want to be labeled one) because i don't participate in their lifestyles, their attitudes(plur crap),their clothing style, their drug lifestyle, ect. I'm just a guy who loves electronica music, and if its one thing i have gained from raving, it is definitely the music.Since i have been exposed to the rave culture, the music and the dancing are the only things that have merit in my opinion,

basically, im an anti-raver but i love the music/dancing. Having seen firsthand the scene in my area and how extremely stupid some of the people are, i can say lot of ravers suck. but there are good ones out there, and no disrespect to them. I think raving is a good experience, i think the people who hate on it must try it out before hating it(like me),heh. and i think i hate the most...the ingorant sluts, some on this board and in this thread, and in this world, who say the 'music sucks'. wth to ya guys know, u guys need to be exposed to some good music. if i offend anyone, oh well.

apoppin,

you had an accident after a rave? I'm sorry to hear that. What happened, if you don't mind giving out the details of course.

Ahh the rave days.
No more though. The rave scene died 3-4 years ago.
Somewhere around 1997 it became very VERY commercialized.
1996 was the last year I can remember it was remotly underground.
Now its just full of people that have NO idea what its there for.
Now its a haven for clubbers and drug addicts. They really truly have no appreciation for the reason of the event. THE MUSIC!@(*&#$(* .
Ask someone what they like, they say "techno", and that generally encompasses ALL electronic music to many.

Throwing them was fun, my crew funded quite a few.
Now any event in this town is free of course.
But the real feeling has been lost long ago.
Now the only real reason to go out is to follow Marco Carolla, richie hawtin, gaetek and Jeff Mills around. 😀
But the scene is moving underground again. And hopefully it will be fully there again with only clubs being promoted.
As always party responsibly, the reason it gets a bad rap, it because of the p1ss poor people who abuse it and the contents within.
just my .02

i've been to 4 raves, found all of them pretty fun and had a good time

alway's been sober, so for any of you first timers: always try your first time sober, then decide on what you want to do after that. Maybe you'll have fun w/o the aid of anything else. Who knows?

I guess i'm halfway inbetween hardcore raver to the newer candy-ravers haha

I disapprove of 14 year olds going to raves. ick

I like to watch the people at them. I dont care to dance myself, but its fun watching others. I like the music, and i agree, if you like it for the drugs, you arent really into raves.

As for the cops, it brings some element of safety to them. They know they cant stop it completely, so they might as well be there in case something "bigger" goes wrong.

I went to the original airport rave in austin, at the old airport. The national guard was there as well giving away glowsticks and cds. Had sign up for info though..hehe

The prices suck. $4 for a bottle of water.
