Your point being what?

That conroe won't be availible outside of NK? Nah, that'd be stupid.

That you have to use conroe by dictat of the secret supreme ruler?

That there is no real reason to go conroe rather than 5000X2? That makes more sense, but it's a poor choice if the OP is overclocking, if not then maybe depending on pricing and budget.

i selected amd, because of the price drops, and since amd has treated me well over the years. i guess you can say im a loyal customer. 🙂

Fair enough, if you're running at stock and the price drops are as expected you won't be losing out. Overclocking is another matter, the 5000X2 is close to the limit already while a 6400 or 6600...

Other than that it's a text book top of the line system, have fun with it. (I'd go BenQ for the DVD RW myself)

You could save a bit (or a lot) of money on a couple of parts, but judging from the list, you can probably afford it.

That's gonna be a fun build. I too, would like to know what video card you've got.

Oh yeah, are you planning to overclock?

you could get a 700w (or even 600w) fortron epsilon and use the saved $100 to get an xfi elite pro. Also... make sure that xms2 is ddr2-1066 if you want ludicrus speed. If you have even more $$$ to drop, get a better case by lian li... maybe a v2100 plus2 or pc101 or the full tower versions of those if you want water cooling. Finally... how is it time for an ugrade with the rig in your sig?

Because people have the choice to choose whatever CPU they want to buy no matter how many review sites shot their load all over the Conroe.

So your objection is more annoyance about the prevailance/preeminance of Conroe than anything else?

In which case go blow off steam elsewhere, people have the choice to buy second rate parts but when it was AMD on top then we'd make sure their choice of a Pentium D was based upon a reasoned choice rather than ignorance. The same goes now, get over it.

It's a very good AMD build but if you don't have or don't plan to use a 7.1 or 5.1 sound systems and if you're not an audiophile the sound card is pretty much overkill/useless.

As for the Raptor, good choice man, I just bought one...will be installing it in 1 hour or so.

Okay, feel free to overpay for less performance.

Sorry dude, but if you are not going with either SLI or Crossfire, you are dumb not to take a P5W DH and an E6700. Its like 4 ghz guaranteed, and 1:1 with DDR2 800.

The only reason I would see anybody buying anyother motherboard, and therefore CPU, is for multiGPU solutions, which it doesnt seem you are doing. or are you? enlighten us.

you obviously haven't read too many of Baked's posts in the past.

Why do I even bother coming into this thread. You may now return to your regularly scheduled Intel brain washing program.

Explain why buying an AMD processor is a better decision.

I dont understand this point. review sites are all over conroe because its a superior processor so why not recommend it to the OP?

ddr2-800 is quad pumped, making it 200mhz effective... if I'm not terribly mistaken?

You would be running memory at DDR2-800 speeds if your C2D is running at a 400MHz FSB.

The X2 5000+, after the price drops, will be about the same price as the Core 2 Duo E6600. However, the Core 2 Duo E6600 outperforms the FX-62, so you're missing out on a very large performance boost.
