Sorry dude, but if you are not going with either SLI or Crossfire, you are dumb not to take a P5W DH and an E6700. Its like 4 ghz guaranteed, and 1:1 with DDR2 800.

The only reason I would see anybody buying anyother motherboard, and therefore CPU, is for multiGPU solutions, which it doesnt seem you are doing. or are you? enlighten us.

ddr2-800 is quad pumped, making it 200mhz effective... if I'm not terribly mistaken?
You would be running memory at DDR2-800 speeds if your C2D is running at a 400MHz FSB.

so... i am mistaken?

i selected amd, because of the price drops, and since amd has treated me well over the years. i guess you can say im a loyal customer. 🙂

Okay, feel free to overpay for less performance.

i originally asked for constructive critisism. feel free to explain. thanks!

The X2 5000+, after the price drops, will be about the same price as the Core 2 Duo E6600. However, the Core 2 Duo E6600 outperforms the FX-62, so you're missing out on a very large performance boost.

im not sure on "very large performance boost".

an extra 2 frames a second isnt my definition of it imo.

No. At least, you and I both believe the same thing. DDR2-800 speed would be 200MHz AFAIK.

Antec P180B
Asus P5W-DH Deluxe
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Zalman CNPS9500AT
G.Skill PC-8500 2x1GB
Seagate Barracuda 750GB
PCP&C 510SLI
X-Fi Fatal1ty
NEC 3550A

this rig would own what you chose, no offense.

EDIT: Tests show that the barracuda 750gig is just a bit slower 0.3x than the raptor writing, and 3x as fast reading.

thanks for the info, u got me thinking 🙂 do u have links to the barracuda vs raptor tests?

btw, when u say own my selection, tell me honestly, do u think we will see a real world performance difference?
