Pretty much everything for everything from NES to PS2 with the exception of stuff like Stadium Events and Flintstones Surprise at Dinosaur Peak.

Almost have a complete in box black box set for NES, all RPGs for SNES, etc.

When I started out collecting I pretty much went straight for the rarest titles first to get them out of the way. Smooth sailing after you knock out the expensive ones first. It's not too hard since I kept a lot of stuff since it was new from the store.

Stadium Events PAL is a bit cheaper :)

Did you grab an NWC Grey or Gold?

I never bought games based on rarity either. I bought games I wanted to play. I don't really understand the collector market. Systems and games I think should be expensive are not. Stuff like Virtual Boy and games are pretty cheap when I think it should be expensive. Same for systems like Sega Nomad and Neo Geo Pocket Color and games.

yeah, neo geo games are still pricey though. i really like to have that new Neo Geo remake their doing. I also want a TG16 system for some reason but not really interested in paying what most are asking

isn't that PS1? at least i have it on PSone...and it's not rare. good game though, one of my favorite side shooters. As well as Thunder Force V

Einhander isn't exactly rare, but it's not a common either. Sealed ones sell for $150ish, more than most PS1 games by a fair margin, not that price alone is the only indicator of rarity. There are certainly even less common PS1 games that would sell for under $100 sealed, and then more common ones like FF7 that sell for more just due to the hype, despite being super common.

Thunder Force is an awesome series, I have TF2, TF3, and Lightning Force sealed, though LF seals are a little torn, just a side effect of Genesis stuff I guess. I have them loose as well to play once in a while. Genesis and TG16 had the best shooters of the 16-bit era for sure.

SEALED Panzer Dragoon Saga?

My god ! ! !

Yep, one sold recently for ~$800 sealed w/hangtab. Definitely one of the more pricey Sega games for sure.

The sealed FF3, if 85+ or better is actually more valuable though. I've seen them sell for $1k-$2k, with a few sneaking by under that. It's probably not even as rare production number wise, or number of sealed copies still in existence, but that's the market for ya, hyped game + sealed + somewhat rarish = $$$.

I have a sealed Herzog Zwei, and it's not worth nearly as much as sealed FF2/FF3 despite being considerably more rare.

The most valuable game I have isn't even sealed.

Yeah $800 is nothing as far as "rare" games go. That's like your average CIB Earthbound :)

Money wise I'm going to say Earthbound is my most valuable game. Mint box with insert and everything with the stickers still in the book. But it's hardly "rare". Outside of of a few NES carts, all but one which aren't even production retail releases, nothing is really "rare". People will say it's rare, it will be highly sought after, and it will be expensive, but you look on Ebay and there will be like 30 listings. Not exactly rare.

Currently the most expensive SNES game. Not even Hagane, Dracula X, Megaman X3, or Aero Fighters have broken 400-500 complete in box yet. The rarest Sega CD and Saturn games like Snatcher and Panzer Dragoon Saga can be had $250-300. CIB SNES Final Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, etc, ~$200. And NES games even complete in box aren't very pricey ($20-80 a game) with a few solid exceptions.

Yup. I bought it when it came out with the intention of buying a Saturn shortly after. Ended up not getting the Saturn as soon as I was hoping and by the time I did PDS was already becoming hard to find so I grabbed a used copied at a local game store and kept my other sealed.

LOL @ FF7 being peoples rarest game. That has to be just about the most widely mass produced game on one of the most successful gaming consoles in history.

I gave away my games a while ago, but I had quite a few rare ones.
A ton of NES games that were rare. I think the rarest was one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games, I had all of them on the NES. Traded it to Funcoland for like $10 well after the hey day of the NES.

On n64, I had Sin and Punishment, which wasn't a very common game even in Japan.

On Dreamcast, I had Shenmue 1 and 2, Illbleed, Seaman, D2, and quite a few other semi rare games, although Dreamcast games never really gained much value.

On Xbox, I owned Steel Battalion (with controller) and Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Not sure if I had any rare Gamecube games...maybe Puyo Pop Fever? Also both Zelda collections, Zelda Four Swords, and Pacman Vs.

I had the 32x and a few games for it, and they were all fairly rare. I had the Dreamcast broadband adapter, which was really rare.

On Playstation 1, I had Xenogears and Breath of Fire 3...

SNES I had Earthbound in box with guide.

And then the idea of a rare game doesn't really seem to exist on current platforms...

From racketboy.com, here's some valuable (but not necessarily rare) games I also owned:
Ms. Pac-Man on the NES (the illegal Temco one I think)
The original Pokemon red for gameboy. (not rare, but apparently valuable)
Also for Gameboy, Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, Pokemon Yellow, Super Mario Land, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Super Mario Land 2, Metal Gear Solid, Pokemon Gold
SNES: Earthbound in box, Super Mario RPG
PSX: Xenogears
N64: Sin and Punishment, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Super Smash Bros, Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Paper Mario, Mario Party, Super Mario 64, Space Station Silicon Valley
Dreamcast: Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Power Stone 2, Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue 2
Gamecube: Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 and 2, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Pikmin 2, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time / Master Quest, Legend of Zelda 4 Game Collection, Eternal Darkness, Super Smash Bros Melee, Killer 7
Xbox: Marvel vs Capcom 2, Steel Battalion with controller
Had quite a few on PC that were rare, like Panzer Dragoon, and maybe some older games like Master of Orion 2. But rare != valuable, and no one seems to colelct PC games.

Nothing rare about Shenmue. That's all over the place. Dreamcast games never gain valve they are not half as rare as you think they are.

I think the DC is one of those systems, that for whatever reason, a lot of people purchased them and held onto them. I still have mine complete with box and 30 games. Most other systems outside Nintendo, people tend to be rid of them.
II don't think Sega nor Nintendo's systems will ever carry over much value outside of a few specific games and peripherals. Most often the "cult" classics, good games that sold poorly or had limited releases.

Probably Persona 1 on the PS1. Got a complete copy in good condition at a local Play 'n Trade for $30USD. I was mumbling "sweet monkey Jesus" to myself for several seconds when I saw that on the shelf. I also see that the price of Persona 2 has gone up quite a bit, I payed like $30 for a complete copy on ebay around five years ago.

I also have a copy of the Misadventures of Tron Bonne I got at the same Play 'n Trade just two to three years ago. Ten bucks, great condition, the only thing missing was the MML2 demo disc.
