Well not really a rant, but I go to a high school in California. I'm a senior, and during my last year, my school decides to go crazy about everything.

I get to school and I learn that to go to the bathroom, you have to wear a vest, and I'm talking about a full blown construction vest, the one that is reflective. This thing is reflective and it has the room that you came from and if you are caught not wearing it fully; guess what, detention, on the spot.

Another thing, at school, we used to have soda and candy, I mean that's cool right. Well this year, my school, or my school district, decides to ban soda and candy. Why? Because we aren't healthy. Who thinks that it's fair to punish the students that do work out and are not obese. I mean punish those that are having problems, don't put those problems on others.

Lastly, we have drug dogs. Two of them. They walk around and search around the school looking for drugs. God. It's so frustrating. Why punish those that don't do that kind of stuff, i.e. graffiti the bathrooms, obesity, and use drugs? Why? Is that necessary?

Wear the vest and get over it. Why would that bother you? Blame the little sh!ts who abused the bathroom passes if your vanity can't handle wearing the vest for 10 minutes. Or better yet, go between classes.

If you want soda and candy, bring it yourself. Why is it the school's responsibility to sell you these things?

first of all, learn to use the enter button. it's the big button above the right shift. it's very useful.

second, since they don't know who does these things, they need to search.

and third, i think i'll go with diegoalcatraz's first quote.

And then those entrepreneurs (I don't know how to spell), that would bring stuff to sell. They get in trouble; teachers like to say: There is no black market.

I strongly recommend that you buy doggy treats, tasty ones, keep them in your locker and backpack, and share them with everybody else to do the same. Also, keep a dog treat hidden in your sock where you have it folded down by your ankle. Once they catch on to this, start grinding up the treats and just leaving the powder in the bottom of your locker. Also, keep small sealable baggies of powdered sugar in your locker. They're screwing with you, this year is your last chance to screw with them, make it count and try to popularize it.

Banning candy and soda is just plain stupid. Caffeine is a performance enhancing drug for mental tasks, and there is some data indicating that high fat, high carbohydrate snacks improve performance on standardized tests. Therefore your school is acting in direct contradiction of the best interests of the students. Still, make the best of it and smuggle in fun size snickers bars and sell them for profit. If you play it smart you can turn this heavily to your advantage.

The measures you describe sound like a complete waste of time and money on the part of the school. Show them how dumb they, and pass bits of dog treat into the lockers of all the children of school board members, through those little vents in the front (if they have them).

I don't get this one, is this a reference to a song or something?

I think so. I hear it referenced with the word "emo" sometimes.

Wearing a vest to the bathroom - that's a new one.

The school's just trying to look out for you, imagine if you fell down and hurt yourself on the way to the bathroom, or if someone was running past and didn't see you. With the vest, neither of these things will happen:laugh:

Man, I'm glad my high school was never like that.

Just deal with it for one more year...you're right, it's stupid, but unfortunately the powers that be don't give a sh!t about high school students.

That would imply some self-control which seems to be lacking in our society as of late.

i know dude, getting yelled at by bosses because you came in to work with a minor hang over, when you come in the next day, even MORE alert, you get yelled at much more, on the bring of getting fired.

your car ever die on you before work.... HOLY FVCK........ NnnnnnnnnnnnOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooo -it's time to open up the garage or closet and get that bike out so you don't get late for work~

lastly but not least, fail your summer courses because you thought they would be easy. it's harder during the summer for me, because everyone is out working, and having fun while they're not working. I failed so horribly that I showed up late on my last day.
NO REFUNDS ON WHAT YOU PAID FOR, the instructors give the final grade and they post it with pride for the eyes.

all you gotta worry about is becoming smart and staying smart, you'll learn how to work hard and everything else will fall into place, even if hell breaks lose; you can't imagine how many good things will be at your finger tips.

Why don't you start doing something about it? Write a well-reasoned, logical op-ed piece for the school/local paper, and try to meet with the principal. Try pretending you're not a whiny 17 year old emo b!tch, and you might even get a point or two across.

If you want to be treated like a human being, you have to act and argue like one.

Publics schools are trying all sorts of crazy things because they are desperate for a change in our nation's overall education.

I think if you're still in school, it's considered a whine, not a rant.

I'll take diegoalcatraz reply number 2.

The way to really freak people out about this is to get enthusiastic. Wow! I get to wear a vest to the bathroom now, how cool is this!!!

No soda and candy? Awwww geez, that's so wonderful, you guys really care about my health. Sob. You care, you really care. I can't believe this, you guys really care.

Drug sniffing dogs? Neat-o! Can I watch? So, this is state of the art, huh? How old is the doggie? Do you give talks and demonstrations? I can't believe I survived school all these years previously without drug sniffing dogs...

There is a huge difference between sarcasm and enthusiasm.

If you think I am being silly or strange, just wait. Someday you will be working and your boss will come in and say "STARTING NOW EVERYBODY WILL WEAR VESTS TO THE BATHROOM" or something equally ridiculous. And your job will depend on your ability to say Wow, I get to wear a vest to the bathroom now - and sound like you mean it.

When I was in school, they made us carry a plunger down the hall with the words, "Hall Pass" on the handle. Thinking about how many people don't wash their hands that carried that thing makes the vest sound fine to me.

Yeah...soda and candy are nice, but you can get that stuff when you leave school. Not a big deal....I've got 5 machines outside my office and I never use them...that stuff will kill you.

Drug dogs are cool. You should start bringing them treats....or throw some day old leftovers (potroast?) in someone's locker as a prank.

If you kids wouldn't take drugs and guns to school, you wouldn't have a need for the dogs.
How could you complain about that? Wouldn't you want to feel a little safer; even if its not by much?

Also, pulling soda and candy machines out of schools; this is happening nation wide. Apparently, the higher ups in the government feel candy & soda machines contribute to obesity.

Anyway.. it all boils down to what is called "Mass Punishment".. When I was in the military, if one person fvcked up in our platoon, everyone did pushups or got punished.
Did it bother me? No.. there are far more important things in my life and this world to worry about.

Don't get your panties all in a bunch over stupid $hit.

WTF? How does your boss know you have a hangover? I used go to work with hangovers, sometimes so massive that I would pretty much just sit there looking at the screen the whole day. Somehow though, it is pretty satisfying to take your hangover sh!t at work, and blow up the bathroom. It cracks me up to think that someone will walk in there soon after me and double over when they inhale my toxic dump smell.
